I've got some tubs of glitter and other odds and ends for nursery.

I chucked out about 7 tubes or sticks of manky glue.

Gave DD some small mosaic tiles to play with. They are iridescent so very appealing to her. She's driving them around in her tractor and trailer.

Can't remember who said the other day about cracker decorations. I had 36 beads on wire from some posh crackers years ago. I kept them as they are multifaceted and very pretty. Anyway, I took the wires out and they are now in DD's bead box. She'll love playing with them and if I do want to use them in the future, I will be able to (if I bribe her!).

I've freed up two chunky Really Useful boxes. The plan eventually is to house a couple of ongoing projects in them so that I can easily pull them out to do 30 minutes in an evening. Amazing what you can get down if a great mound of other stuff doesn't become dislodged when you pull something out of a cupboard.

I have virtually used up all my stickers, ribbon, embellishments and oddments of card that have been hanging around. Some bits I never really liked, but they are good as notebook covers or things that will get used.

When I do some proper scrapbooking again, I will save money by buying what I actually need, rather than picking up bits and bobs that don't match just because I like them.

We don't normally give Easter presents in our family, apart from the children having Easter Eggs. But I made a small present for an aunt. I've put it in a plain white envelope and put some ribbon on it with an Easter gifttag. It didn't cost anything (out of this year's budget, at any rate) but it looks great.

I may make some little Valentine presents for everybody - shall have to think about that this afternoon. The rule is that it has to be something genuinely useful for the recipient. I don't want it to be a glorified version of churning.

Just dropping by to say I got TWO 'Wow!'s. :T One when DS's dad stepped into the kitchen and another when he came through to the living room. :D

I've texted a colleague from my last job and said 'give me a couple more weeks, then you can come over for coffee' :j (This is a Hugh-mungous step forward - can you feel me grinning? :D )

Like I said earlier a looooooong way to go but we're on our way woo-hoo.

hello frugalsod - you are amongst friends here :)

    Hope Ames is OK.

great going to WW, PQ, florence, GB, nel roundtoit and everyone else here.

small victory that no-one in real life will understand - I went to pull out the steamer for the kitchen floor, this lives in the cupboard of doom, that I have dehoarded a number of times. it's right at the bottom and detritus had crept in around it, but as I got the bag out I sorted through and binned the rubbish in less than 30 secs making it all tidy and organised without any fuss (other than the fanfare I'm giving myself here!). I was so happy that this is possible and completed that spurred on I've binned a mop (never use it) and a floor cleaner that you attach enormously expensive floor wipes to (not used in 5 years or so).

    such small things please me!

my free plant pots have been hailed on/in so they are now in the porch hoping they'll be dry enough to bring in soon.

friend popped in unannounced today and I was just pleased to see her didn't feel at all uncomfortable about the house:D

Everyone seems to be doing really well!

Our flood risk was raised yesterday from 'Alert' to 'Warning' so last night saw me putting back together the bedroom that the electricians had been in (cleaning it first) and then starting to think about making space upstairs for stuff from downstairs. I moved a few things up that don't need to be downstairs.

Today involved emptying the garage, taking all the tat to the tip, using some of the old shelves to raise the freezer off the ground and put shelves between the beams to put stuff up on. I had some help, and a delivery of 20 bags of builders' sand and a couple of hydrosnakes (the flat pack polymer sandbags that expand when wet), so the garage is as floodproof as it can be.

Keeping the clutter to a minimum, and having things organised definitely makes this kind of situation easier. I'm going to be ruthless as I move stuff upstairs and throw out anything that is broken/unwanted.

    :) Afternoon all.

Well-done greenbee on your flood prevention plans and I've watched those poor people with floods and thought how much easier life even in a crisis would be for those who were dehoarded and organised. Imagine having 3 feet of mucky water swilling through your home and random kipple sloshing around inside it. Urrgghh.

Been having a bit of a rubbish weekend. On Saturday discovered my allotment shed had been broken into again since last Saturday and lots of other sheds done over, too. This morning, on my way up to repair that, discovered my bike shed here at the block had been broken into.

The only thing taken was the spare bike chain, the main one was holding the bike to the shed wall, the other was in the bike basket. So I now have a new hasp and padlock on the shed and the bike is temporarily in my huge (9x 12) foot sitting room. Obviously not sustainable in more than the medium term, but at least I know where it is.

Result of all this is that nearly my whole weekend has been taken up, but the Police officer who came to look at the bike shed did remark on its tidiness, which was a small glow of pride in an otherwise rubbishy day.

My plans for the rest of the day are pretty low-key; to make bread rolls, eat supper and have a long soak in the bath and an early night.

Oh, and I took the rubbish out on my way to the bike shed, so that's one thing done, and I have polished my work shoes ready for tomorrow.

Onward, upwards and outwards, my lovelies.

Did the washing up and wiping up so the kitchen is back to normal for tomorrow. I have today scanned in the barcodes for some items I have bought recently for travelling and so now have them in my asset list and updated the warranty details. So can now pack them away.

Still working on my craft project in between doing the washing.

I am very tempted to recycle the rest of the current supplies rather than attempt to use them up in a meaningful way. That way the table can be cleared for the spaghetti bol that we are having for tea.

GQ, you are amazing; having had a rotten weekend you can still end your posts positively.

I need to spend about 30 minutes tidying the house after DD has been playing as she has dropped off to sleep already.

Why do Sundays go so quickly?

:o Not so amazing, pet, had a mega-wobble when I discovered the bike shed and cried.

Have now re-surfaced from bathroom all bathed and hairwashed. Think I'll do a face-pack, too, and put fresh jammies on straight from the hot pipes in the airing cupboard. Brushed cotton jammies with cartoon penquins on, so that my inner infant will be comforted. Some days are rubbish and you just have to mother yourself a bit and get on with it.

Will make bread rolls later, have only recently put the heating on for the first time in 3 days and want the place to be nice and warm so that they rise properly.

Actually, I think I'll have the chilli con carne now, do the rest later.

Didn't get to my planned tidy of the bedroom. Have only a small area of 1 x 3 meters not actually under the bed and it's looking a bit like a jumble sale down there atm. Tomorrow will have to do as I seriously cannot be arissed tonight.

Did anyone else, when they were firing up the Large Hadron Collider at Cerne for the first time and there was some semi-serious concern about the fabric of the universe coming unravelled, think to themselves; Shall I do the dishes before going to work as if the world ends mid-morning, would I want to have wasted the effort? :p

That kind of philosophy on a very regular basis is one of the main reasons I got into my own particular mess. What flylady would call, stinkin' thinkin'.

However, the occasional can't be arrised moment comes highly recommended.
