Managed to de-clutter the pile of dirty washing that lives in front of the washer :j Finally got it down to half a neat basket full. Playing tetris at the mo with all my craft stuff but geting somewhere slowly and shelves are emptier. Not taken much to the CS lately but have a couple of bin bags of rubbish to re-cycle tomorrow. Had a few tense days with no mojo in sight but feeling better tonight.

no dehoarding here of any note, except bins out last night. very windy and wet: patches of damp are appearing half way up walls, I think with the sheer force of the wind driving the rain in through tiny cracks, but no point in trying to do anything about it until the weather lets up.

hope you are all safe and sound. we've a quiet weekend with a month's rain forecast to drop during it (and we're in Wales, so it's usually blooming wet in feb anyway, so cosy indoor stuff finishing off craft projects planned. we are very lucky and not at risk of anything dire despite weather warnings for what seems like ages now, and for as far as is forecast, so I hope you and yours are warm and cosy.

    :) Morning all.

Been baby-stepping about the place, have only just achieved normal-tiredness levels following the stresses of my crime-infested weekend. A pox on the thieving barstewards.

Last night I took the newly-arrived part-burned tealight candles and turned them into another layer of the ongoing pringle candle. The thin carrier bag they'd arrived in had a slit in it and I thought for a moment about taping that up and using it as a binliner but decided to live wild for once and just bin it.

I also ran a load of washing through and pawed thru the pile of stuff on the bedroom floor. It needs a good sorting out in there, esp as the robbery of my bike shed caused some stuff to be brought into the flat and dropped higgledy-piggeldy here and there. F'rinstance, I have a large holdall wrapped in bin bags parked in my bathtub atm.....:p

Will be going to work today and then on to buy the seed potatoes, which will spend the next few weeks indoors chitting and be planted out end March/ beginning April. It's an annual occurance in my funny little life.

Hokay, onwards and outwards, my lovelies, have a good day.

Made cakes - used stuff we had at home already - and am really pleased that I found some gift bags/boxes. They are all beautifully presented and gift tagged up. Enough for 4 sets of family so I am very pleased.

    DH's clothes are finally gone.

Will try and fit in a visit to recycling in the morning. There isn't much here but 1 big box is annoying me.

:D I am re-arranging my furniture in my bedroom.

Now this may not seem a remarkable statement to people who live in more normally sized homes. My bedroom was designed by a numpty of an architect and approved by other numpties. The bedroom is just a bit bigger than a standard double bed. There is one alcove a bit shy of 3 feet wide and a bit more than two feet deep. The bit of the room not under the bed or under the one piece of furniture in the alcove is - wait for it- 30 inches wide by 7.5 feet long. And the door has to open over part of that.......

So, pretty limited in what I can do. I have a hanging rail across the alcove just below ceiling height, reachable because I'm very tall, and a chest of drawers under that. And a Shabitat trolley which was given to me and holds other things. I shall switcheroonie the trolley and the c-of-d and see how this works. If I don't like it, I shall switch back again.

:p Because the joy of being an adult is rearranging your own furniture. This new arrangement will mean the the trolley isn't half blocking the drawers which means I can open them more than a few inches and am therefore more likely to put my clothes away, instead of having them living in the airing cupboard most of the time.

I also swept out and ran inventory in my bike/storage shed down the block. The one which was broken into last weekend, you may recall. And the only thing they took was the spare bike chain and padlock.

I found I had two tubs of sugar soap, both started, so consoidated them into one tub. I also brought down an elderly tin of gloss which may or may not have gone solid. I shall investigate that at some point in the near future. And I found one glove, of a pair I used to use for paintstripping duties at my former home. It's the lefthand glove because I used the righthand one up, being righthanded.

So I kept it, because, you know, I just might need to do work with chemicals using my left hand only, because that's what we right-handers do with powerful chemicals, use our weaker and less co-ordinated side, hey?:rotfl:I binned it. Several years too late, but hey-ho, I didn't have you lot to encourage me back then.

I am also going to think about the full-length mirror hanging on the bedroom wall. It's going to be half obscured by the new arrangement of furniture and I find myself wondering how much I use it anyway. I think I'll try turning it around and see how often I catch myself trying to use it. I suspect I use the hall mirror more as it's big enough for me to see if I'm looking a fright.

After a while, I'll decide if that mirror is a keeper or a donation.

    Happy, soggy Valentine's Day, everyone.

Wish I were snuggled up under a duvet in front of a roaring log fire, but never mind. We have bought a new candle to have a candlelit meal with the children tonight but I doubt it will turn out quite as planned! I told DH to get some 'cold' food too in case we get a power cut!

In terms of dehoarding, I think we'll just have a chat over the meal about how much we have achieved over the course of this thread.

Very little decluttering gone on here this week and the living room looks a lot worse than it did a couple of weeks ago. I have submitted 2 more job applications though.

I finally dropped off the box of bric a brac that had been in my car for weeks at the charity shop. My car had to go in for a safety modification last week and they washed and vacced it. No doubt they were cursing me because of the amount of crap in the car that they had to work around. Does anyone else have a car that is almost as messy as their house? It would probably be worse if it wasn't for the fact that people can see in the car whereas I don't let people in my house if I can avoid it!

After getting rid of most of the 10 year old paperwork I sorted the newer paperwork and used the files from the old stuff. The old stuff was very impressively arranged and alphabeticised so now the new stuff is too. Still lots more to go. It took ages and the house doesn't look any better for it but at least it gives me a better chance of finding what I need in the future.

DS doesn't need to get new exam certificates because the uni accepted the results slips that he had. He's been offered a place so will be starting his Social Work Masters in January. :j We hadn't actually lost those certificates though as we'd never had them.

I got a new pillow this week and threw one out, so I am pillow neutral. :D Bin was collected and was full so 2 weeks to refill it.

    Well done noelphobic.

We have wasted a lot of time over the years through not getting rid of old stuff as soon as new stuff came in.

Thats great news Noel. I agree Whitewing, now I stick to the one bag out, 1 item in routine.Post is sorted right away and yesterday needed to find a document and it was right where I had filed it :j

Kitchen floor is no longer the place dirty washing goes to linger so will be scrubbing the kitchen floor in a minute then Im done till Dgs comes tomorrow and leaves again on Sunday. Like to have all our meals prepped in advance so no fuss. Want to sort the spice drawer out as some of the stuff is very old and have bought new. have just one lot of washing to go through the machine and am feeling very happy about that so when I change the beds tomorrow I wont be looking at it and feeling fed up.These little things do make a difference.

Hope everyone has the Valentines day they wish for, we dont bother as Hubby hates it - 'its a con designed by card manufacturers':rotfl: but he does buy me flowers and odd things randomly all year.

Not looking likely, as George Clooney hasn't turned up yet!

It's just occurred to me that even if he did I couldn't let him in because of the state of the place.
