Are you all skiving? I was looking forward to some updates. It has been so rainy here and got some big family issues so I haven't been able to force myself to do anything tonight.

  • No I am not skiving. I was doing my housework as unfortunately I have to do it on an evening now. However, this is partly because I visit old colleagues and suchlike for an hour after work sometimes.

However, feet up now and the update is that I have finally thrown away the Christmas cake. It was half eaten but I can't remember if that was the one we'd kept for two years or not. Anyway, we are not eating cake or dessert really so off it went. Also decluttered a house plant. I hate doing it but this one was dead anyway. Overwatering I think. The 0xfam pile will be going tomorrow. Honest.

And DH did jokingly say he might clean out the drawer under the wardrobe with all his sports gear in it. I hope he does. Other people's clutter is even more frustrating that mine because I can't touch it. He was trying to save money, though, by making absolutely sure he didn't need it again before he chucked it out.

Grey queen, if you really do like zombie novels, you could try World War Z. Much better than the film and I really enjoyed it.

I wonder if I should start a sci fi/fantasy thread?

Anyway, I'll stop wittering and declutter myself onto the 5 Pleasures thread.
    Best of luck.

    Rampant Recycler
A small triumph. DS promised to put a triptych of photographs on the wall in July 2012. Since then the very large frame has rested against the CD shelving. Today it went on the wall in the dining room. I hadn't done it as the frame needed a bit of brute strength to wire it up, anyway it's UP now.

Recycling bin will be full when it goes out tomorrow evening. I've done quite well at keeping it full every fortnight.
I've been reading Don Aslett ever since the books came out. Genius, but I keep lapsing which is why I'm still here.

I'm on the No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries thread and have been for years. The current project is using up the little bottles that have been hanging around the place, they have been annoying me. Off to that thread to report the latest..

:D Nah, just working during the week and weary (have ME and working takes the juice outta me).

Finished the zombie novel late last night and straight into the charity bag. It was one of my 3 for £1 just before Xmas. Have now started on a library book so that'll go back there once finished. Think I will alternate the library books with the to-read owned books on shelf, to winnow them down.

I'm also plugging away at a typing project, doing a few pages per day to get that done. Once it's printed out, the rough notes can be shredded and that's a bulky notebook gone, yayyyyy!

Finished a 4-pinter of milk, rinsed and drained and had that out to the recycling that very morning and have used up the last of a large tube of hand-cream and am now on another one from the stash.

My toiletries inventory is well out-of-date, so that's something I may do one evening when not feeling too alert. I know more or less what I have and not to buy any more deodorants for a while but I would like to see it in black and white. Nothing like a list for focussing the mind.

Still on schedule to head out circa 8-ish and get the barnet chopped, which will cause a net loss of a few centimeters of hair. Well, it's a small flat and every little helps.

Keep on keeping on, and here's hoping any poorlies feel better soon. GQ xx

Me too! Most of my larger bottles have been used up so now I'm focusing on all the little ones. :)

I also have a lot of pictures that need to go up but the plasterwork is SO bad in this house getting things to stay up is a nightmare. I also have to do it when my DIY-phobic husband isn't around as he fusses around me and tuts when things don't stay up first time, which is VERY irritating.

No really big movement here but slowly slowly catchy monkey as they say. On top of everything else I'm doing (studying, work, daughter AND renovating the kitchen soon) I'm trying to finish my novel which I started over 10 years ago. Last night I went through my 'writing box', which hides under the bed as it's huge, and managed to chuck out a few writing ideas I know I'll never use. This is a big step too. :)

Hope all the poorlies feel better soon!

Extended family are going through some rough times, and we are caught in the middle of 3 points of view. So I am going to do some more baking later. Just a little effort to make an unbearable day a teensy bit more bearable. It will also let me declutter a little more xmas chocolate that was lurking before Valentine's Day chocolates arrive (that's a joke).

I will do some more to my crafting projects later, and hopefully finish one of them so things can be packed away.

I have a few books/DVDs, bought on special offer, that need to be wrapped up and put away for various gift hampers.

I have a feeling that I am going to get dragged into more conversations later today so I am going to be flexible with plans and count every 5 mins done as a bonus.

Got a couple of packs of value toothpaste to go somewhere. DH refuses to use it but it's one of those things that it is more effort to say 'no' to the person giving it to us than to just move it along.

I do hope poorly people are feeling much better today.

Washing is being done. Bedroom is mostly tidy and uncluttered. Kitchen is tidy and clean apart from laundry and the cooking stuff. Asked DH if he'd vacuum one of the rooms with a pain of a carpet. It takes ages to do it properly. He pulled a face so I asked him to just do what he could in 15 minutes.

  • Hoping this cheers people up today. It made me smile. I find the process of de-richarding so much easier with music!

pigpen, make sure you declutter the illness before doing anything else.

WW, hope you are alright amidst the family battles, it's OK to turn the ringer off and have a break from all of them.

I put washing away yesterday and that's it, felt very tired, and had a funny turn this morning, think I half fainted (if you can half-faint) ended up lying on the kitchen floor. feel very tired again tonight so takeaway pizza for the kids, and early bed for all of us.

I'll be cheering you on from bed :)
