    Hi

I have catches in the same situation, I through the canceled before the 14 days were up but I never got an email, they are trying to get me to pay back £259 to them. I have ask them to look into and put to me in writing.

I will email office fair trading now

    Hi Sarah
don't pay anything, report it to BBC Watchdog, trading standards,
office of fair trading and to your local MP. I have now had a very long break from them and my MP has all the details so still waiting for the response. The more people report it perhaps we can win together.
  • Hi, I am unfortunately in the same position... Although maybe slightly different as I have had absolutely NO correspondence from LegalCare until the letter from gpd solicitors this morning demanding £278. I signed up and cancelled via PayPal within 24hours and have heard jacks**t from the company informing me of due or missed payments? How can they be threatening me with legal action for non-payment of something I wasn't aware I had not paid! Flapping a little as I am an unemployed single mother who can't afford to pay them even the £19 monthly let alone nearly £300 lump sum or court costs... Is there no way out of this? :-(

You only have to pay court courts if you lose (generally). Until you have a court judgement telling you to pay, you don't have to pay (whether you choose to is your prerogative of course!).

If you haven't done so already, have a really good read through this thread (yes, all of it!), and the following:

  • Hey guys, I also got conned by legalcare.co.uk . I've just received a second letter from GBP solicitors threatening me with court action. It's so frustrating. But I'd rather go to court than paying them.
I didn't cancel within 14 days but after a month. Does it change anything? I think it shouldn't as the fact that you enter 12 moth contract was not mentioned at any point during the sign up process. The first time I learned about the 12 months was when I received an email from them that I owe them £240.

Thank you so much, I know someone else which will write a letter as well.
My MP already asked him why companies like legalcare are not regulated by Ombudsman or Solicitors authority so know I need to wait for reply and will let you all know what happened.
    Someone need to help us.

if you google contact your MEP or 'write to them' you put in your town and you can send an email directly to your member of parliament. I have emailed mine now. They are very busy and so usually only will respond to their own constituents, so I as am sure we are all over the country lots of them will be getting involved I guess
