  • gsheard83 - it's been a while since you last posted (sorry, I don't check this forum as frequently now). I hope you got some resolution to your problem.

trevor more-or-less hit the nail on the head with this one, although be forewarned they have attempted to take a few people to court over the matter (myself included).

I went to hearing and explained the situation to the judge; he was satisfied that Aska Professional Ltd (aka Legalcare) had acted unreasonably and the case was awarded in my favour. A CCJ has been made against the company for almost £200. I am also of the understanding a similar award was made against Aska Professional Ltd in Bury county court back in April 2014 - so it would appear the courts are taking a dim view of their business practices.
  • Hi,

I feel so embarrassed, but I too have been conned by LegalCare. I have read all of the thread from last year, and cannot believe how many people have been affected. Its shocking that this company is still in business, it needs to be stopped!

I used the website back in May of this year, and regrettably forgot to cancel within the 14 day terms. I immediately cancelled the payment after I realised they had taken £19 from my PayPal account. The day after I received an email from their accounts department requesting that I reinstate the payment, which I didn't, and I never heard from them again.

Today I received two automated phone calls from 'Daniel Silver Man Limited'. It kept asking me to confirm my name so I terminated both the calls thinking it was some sort of spam. I thought it was really unusual so I did some research and found myself here.

I haven't been in contact with LegalCare since June of this year, and I haven't officially spoken to anyone from Daniel Silver Men but it's obvious that the two matters are related.

I was thinking of just ignoring the calls, I am pretty sure they don't have my address so they have no other way of contacting me. Before I did this I wondered if anyone else thought this was a good idea? If I have to deal with this then I will, but it sounds like a lot of stress, and this company doesn't really seem to be taking anyone to court, just threatening with it.

I would really appreciate any suggestions!
  • I am in the same boat, just wanted to check how many cases people knew of going to court and if people usually win because out of principle I feel like fighting this all the way because I cancelled with Paypal the same day I registered and thought it was all done and dusted, only to receive a payment chaser a month later and with it now being passed to Daniels Silverman collection agency. I do not know how this company can be allowed to continue to trade when they prey on vulnerable people like this, it is disgusting!
  • Hi,

Since my last post I have received numerous phone calls and letters from Daniels Silverman. After doing ALOT of research I decided to stick to my plan and ignore them. I haven't responded once and don't plan to. Their letters might look threatening but there is nothing they can do. If anything I could probably report them to the FCA for harassment.

In my personal opinion I really don't think Aska Professional would take the matter to court. After all if they did, they would only be exposing themselves for the scum that they are. I don't think a judge would be impressed to know they are chasing a debt because they miss led people into thinking they provide legal advice.

It's honestly up to you what you decide to do but my advice would be to ignore it until it goes away. Whatever you do don't speak to them, not even once, otherwise you will hear no end from them and will probably be bullied into making some kind of payment.

Let me know how you get on. My last letter from them was the 15th so no doubt they will be in touch again soon. If any further action gets taken against me then I will let you know but I seriously doubt it will. If it does though, I'm ready for a fight.

Here's an interesting thread that should put anyone off signing up with Legalcare (and may possibly help anyone still in its clutches):
