How important are holidays to you?

Foreign Holidays are VITAL in my life.
I need a regular fix of culture, and experiences that only a foreign trip can bring, plus its a huge bonus to not speak to a single english person for 1-3 weeks.
So far this year I have done Scotland and Prague, and around september time I will be off to Argentina, and the whole of January in Thailand and Vietnam.0 -
Not important at all!! I do go away but only in the UK, had a lovely time in IOW last year and love Wales but I am just not a holiday person, perhaps if we stayed in hotels and got looked after it would be different but to me it's just doing the same things in someone else's house with inferior equipment!!
That's exactly why I plump for luxury.
On my holiday when I'm paying to stay there (in addition to paying to run my home) I want BETTER than I have at home - I want a better bedroom & bathroom & I want great food & drink.0 -

DD is 9 and DS is 2. Butlins is as far as I am prepared to stretch right now :T
My kids were the best behaved on holiday. They loved the distraction and probably because I was more relaxed and happy, that rubbed on them. I always had people coming to me on trains/planes telling me how well behaved they were, which of course prompted them to be even more little angels.0 -

We love our holidays and we've been fortunate to have had some really fab ones over the last 10 years. We now don't have to take our dd's as youngest turned 18 last year & doesn't want to come with us so we can do exactly what we want rather than have to think if suitable for dd's.
We always discussed where we would go as a family and I know we all enjoyed the time away as a family, being relaxed, chilled out and just spending that time away from every day life.
This year, DH & I have been to the Caribbean for a week, off to Barcelona for 4 nights late May then the Caribbean again in October. Once the October holiday is finished (or probably before lol), we'll be planning the next one.
We also take the odd weekend break in the UK every few months, just to break up the monotony. Our view is we work hard so we earn our breaks away and it's good for us as a couple to have that time together.
We both realise how fortunate we are though :j0 -
“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”
I love travelling-the cheaper the better. I penny pinch on every single item in the houe-ie hand wash /toile paper / charity shop clothes so our day to day costs are the minimum so that we can have lots of adventures around the world. Research says that positive experiences build self esteem and memories where as material goods are forgotten so I avoid anything materialistic and lots of lovley experiences!
I wouldn't like to tell you the holidays we have booked this year it would be embarrasing! but I research every single detail and for less than people pay for 2 weeks in spain we have amazing long holidays.
Ps Holiday pirates is lethal!0 -

Not important at all!
As a family we plan 10 or so really good family treat trips a year ( never normally more than over night, usually just a day) and for us that's what we like to do. I think because we live within a stones throw from wonderful beaches, walks and lots for children to do, it seems pretty pointless!!0 -

I like to go on cruise holidays, and we save hard to be able to go on this type of holiday.
For the past few years we've managed two a year. This year we are only having one cruise, but it is for 24 nights!holidaysforme wrote: »please tell me what holiday pirates is!!! I think i'm missing out on something??
In some waters at risk from pirate attack, the passengers have to do a pirate drill in case the ship is attacked. Perhaps thats holiday pirates?!Early retired - 18th December 2014
