    They're important to me.

If there was no possibility of being left alone by the idiot brigade at work for a few weeks a year I'd go quite mad.
  • I haven't been abroad in fifteen years but i have never been that fussed over it. I always had mini city breaks for a night or two with friends but hadn't been on holiday for years until having my little boy.Now we go to butlins or haven every year. This is our first holiday with me as a single parent so it's going to be hard plus i want to take my little one on a couple of city breaks, then might try to have a girls weekend as i think i will be needing some me time soon!!!
to be honest though i am just as happy to take a week off work and stay at home going on a few special days out like drayton manor or something - just as much fun and i get to sleep in my own bed every night!

You pay more than £425 each for Haven?!

Yep.We go in August (most expensive time) and now pay around a grand or more for 7 nights for me and ds:o Includes funworks passes and bedding though..;) pmsl.oh dear!Quite insane really isn't it!

It has become more expensive over the years and even the lowest grade caravans are around 900,depending on when you book (I always do it when there is a discount and get higher grade-we have maid service this year:rotfl:)

    Blooming hell!
I guess you could get more in & bring the price per head down.
If you take the airfare off a 5 star carribean holiday, it's probably cheaper than a UK holiday:D
    Cheaper than Haven anyway :rotfl:

Yes, because Caribbean workers earn about 50p an hour.

It's still worthwhile to visit these countries so they have a tourism industry. Better a poorly paid job than no job.
Before you moan about all inclusive, while they may not benefit local small businesses as much as small hotels, they still do provide much needed jobs.

We do a few caravan/holiday inn type bargain breaks per year. I love taking the kids to new museums and beaches etc. Most of the stuff we do on holiday will be free or very cheap although in May we have two for one chessington tickets so we will find a local hotel and make a longer stay of it.
I would love to take them abroad this year but they will need passports and mine need renewing so that will be a couple of £100!

no not really every holiday i've been on since i met my dh 15 years ago has been a disater the best bit for me is packing the bags (god knows why lol.) I have three small children who still have the constant needs they have at home but in a living space the size of my kitchen and somebody always pukes in the car. That said we still try to get away for a lil holiday each year even if in a caravan at haven.

  • Holidays are very important to me. I have travelled all over the world, seen some fabulous places and have wonderful memories. I also enjoy being "looked after", no household duties or cooking, and generally being away from work.:)

I am generally speaking a very frugal person, and holidays are where I spend my money. Worth ever penny to me.
