How important are holidays to you?

I haven't had a holiday for a few years due to money/illness/bereavement/work, but generally they are really important to me. Most of my Bucket List is travel-related and I know I would really regret it if I didn't see/experience some of the amazing places the world has to offer. Another reason I like holidays is that they are a great time to evaluate your life. I think it can be hard to do that when you are in familiar surroundings and doing the same old thing.0

Having never had a holiday with my OH at all I'd say not important.
However we're off on our first in 8 years in May so i might change my mind after that!0 -
Currently important because I find life exhausting, so I feel like I need them, but I know they aren't actually "important", despite a love of travelling that I've had since young childhood.
I think travel broadens the mind and holidays are a break from life (which could involve travelling.) I aspire to making my life so enjoyable that I don't feel a need for holidays! Tough when raising children.0 -
I love holidays. When i'm having a stressful day at work (fairly often), thinking about holidays keeps me going. It helps that OH loves travelling as he works for a company with big links to travel and studied anthropology abroad. We have been very lucky to go abroad quite a lot and if things go well we'll travel for around 6 months next year. Travel is where quite a bit of my money goes, but the memories are priceless.Current debt: M&S £0(£2K) , Tesco £0 (£1.5K), Car loan 6K (paid off!) Barclaycard £1.5K (interest free for 18 months)0

You may well change your mind during a holiday! Have fun!0 -
for me holidays have been a lifeline, as due to personal circumstances they have been a time where DD can lead a normal childhood, one that she can have freedom, make friends.
I didnt travel to I was laste 20s, then I had a bad car accident and was told there was a chance that I had fractured my spine - lying on spinal board really gives a new perspective on life.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
A holiday to us, is to have some time off work together. It is not very often we go away at all, as we are saving like mad..but hopefully that will change in the futureThe opposite of what you know...is also true0

I love holidays. We've had times when we could barely afford to eat let alone go away, so ever since we became debt free and financially secure, I made it a priority to save the money up so we could get away.
It doesn't have to be expensive. We're quite happy to book our own flights, arrange the hotel - there's enough review sites out there to be able to make an informed decision - and get a bus from the airport.
Last year we had 5 days in Barcelona, flights were £19 each way with no taxes and the hotel was £49 a night for the room. Got the train from the airport to Barcelona, only a couple of quid each. Lovely trip.
Things are slightly different this year as I'm being made redundant in 2 weeks
so have shelved the holiday idea temporarily, but I have still been putting money away so I can book up something once I have found another job. 0 -
Holidays are my reward for working all year :-) I hardly spend anything else on recreation (apart from shopping lol).
I will happily be frugal all year to have a couple of weeks of luxury somewhere hot & tropical :-)
Last year I was very lucky & had 2 fab holidays. The new Sensatori in Sharm & a 5 star in Mexico :-)
As soon as I get back from one holiday - I need to plan my next - it's my reward to myself for life & work :-)
I'm going to the grand Bahia principe esmerelda in the Dom rep this year - which looks AMAZING, it has every luxury I want :-)
Probably back to Mexico the following year as dd wants to marry there & there is do much to do you need to visit a few times :-)
Holidays in the UK leave me cold & I would think of as a punishment :-(0 -
I think it's important to get away for a few weeks each year to do something different. Whether it's a small caravan or luxury cruise is not so important - the key thing is to get away from the stress of your everyday life and gain some new experiences. My most important and cherished memories are from the various holidays I've taken over the years. I wouldn't want to lie on my death bed thinking about how hard I'd worked - I'd prefer to think about all the interesting things I'd done and the interesting places I'd been.0
