Hi aileth. I'm glad you were able to communicate with him yesterday, be it in writing or otherwise!!

Sometimes asking complete strangers does help, and you are right in saying it gives you opinions from both sides. I'm the same as you - it's all too easy to barge in with all guns blazing, without stopping to consider the other parties point of view. Once you have all the information, the ultimate decision is then left to you.

I truly hope things work out for you :D

Well the letters seem to have really helped.
He said that he didn't think about the note at all
It's definitely cleared the air a lot,
I feel confident that he hadn't been playing away despite how damning it looks.
Seems like he's just been a stupid man who doesn't think.
Thank you very much for input everyone.
I feel much happier after my initial panic.
I have to rest my poor writing hand now!

Sorry to read this, it means he's going to continue stringing you along. It must be great to have you as a meal ticket while he continues his affair.
Well he would say that, wouldn't he?

I asked friends, who shrugged or said, "He would never do something like that."
I feel much happier for having done so, rather just charging into things and shooting myself in the foot.
I've chosen to trust him for now. If it's ill-placed trust, then the only person I've done in is myself.

    Hello aileth

Indeed. I wonder how many actually read past the title before composing their response ;)

Whilst I am no expert when it comes to relationships, I have just read through all of this and my only thought is what is the OP actually getting out of this relationship?

OP owns the house, car and pays for all the shopping, yet seems to get nothing in return, not even any affection.

Sounds pretty crap to me :(

    Caught out yourself were you?

It's not about being untrustworthy - it's about reading the signs.

It's also a good idea to not get wound up into 2+2 = 57
This is a forum, you are detached from what is really happening and you are seeing one persons view of a story.

You might be right, you might be wrong but asking someone to destroy their relationship based on upset feelings and a small amount of narrative is a bit full on.
