Hi We transferred over on 24th June got all telephone and internet banking info have logged on. One problem is that Barclays do not display daily mortgage amount like Woolwich Openplan you can only get monthly display, as I am obsessed with paying my mortgage off this is not good!
Rang the helpline, takes ages to answer even late at night-got through eventually to online banking asked why I can't see my mortgage as before and was told that Barclays don't do that when asked why, well she couldn't really answer! I stated that I would expect the same service as before as is was not my choice that I had been transferred but fell on deaf ears.
Also have not recieved cards and cheque books but have had good communication from them before the change over.
Will see how it goes when all DDs start coming out from the 1st!0 -
My account was transfered last weekend.
My experience so far:
Woolwich card due to expire end of June retained by Barclays machine.
New Woolwich card received last week did not work(only able to service account in branch).
Barclays connect card never arrived, replacement ordered.
Cheque book not received, now ordered.
Telephone membership number not received, now ordered.
Telephone PIN number didn't work, replacement now received.
Customer services were unable to confirm whether my bill payments had been transfered.
When setting up bill payment to go out on monday it would not allow, payment had to come out sunday.
Unable to set up further bill payments for future staggered dates as I had already arranged £1000 to go out on a different date.
Customer services were generally polite and helpful but I had one who was getting a little grumpy because I kept saying pardon as I couldn't understand some of what he was saying due to the accent - are they in India or Indonesia?
Endured over 20 minutes of telephone music each time I tried to get through to someone.
Transfered bill payment of £2000 showed up as going to one organisation one day and the next days entry for £2000 showed as a completely different name which gave me a panic & sent me rushing to the branch.
Unable to view future bill payments on the same screen as current statement, much easier to see at a glance with Woolwich.
Woolwich allowed bill payments of £2000 per day and these could all be set up at once, Barclays only allows £1000 and you can only set up £1000 per day regardless of the dates you want them to go out.
Direct debits due on monday are taken on saturday, yet if they are due on tuesday they are taken on tuesday (nasty greedy barclays)
When asking about changing mortgage a few weeks back the offer sent was for a higher rate and the woman wasn't friendly at all over the phone.
Have received my connect card today which is handy as they cancelled my existing Woolwich one. Won't suprise me though if it doesn 't actually work, I hate to be so negative but have wasted so much time over the last week trying to sort out their mess. Bet my phone bill is huge too. There is a free phone number of 0800 400 100 that came with my card. Used it today and they transfered me to customer services without any hitch.0 -

Like you I'm obsessed with paying my mortgage off. I tried logging onto the Woolwich today and couldn't so tried Barclays, arrrrgggggghhhhhh where has my mortgage gone? I wanted to make an overpayment which I can't seem to doI hate not being able to see my mortgage. I phoned them up and got absolutely knowhere, she just said well go into the branch and make an overpayment, I stressed that that's totally inconvenient and besides I like to see my mortgage reduce when I make an overpayment without having to ask someone how much I owe now, I feel like my throats been cut:o

I have just picked up on this thread, I didn't even realise there were problems with the switch over.
So I decided to check when my Woolwich debit card expires, 07/07
This isn't going to be a long post....I need to get on the phone!0 -
I would personally check if they are going to bother paying your direct debits or not. I had one from my Openplan account to my Woolwich loan account - last 4 years absolutely no problems.
Obviously knew about the changes so I checked with Woolwich staff (before our branch disappeared) and also 'phoned the helpline. Was assured I needed to do nothing. That all accounts details would be changed on my behalf...NOT....
My first Barclays bank statement was in some way quite amusing (except for the fact that they didn't bother to pay my loan!)
Day 1 - Plenty of funds sitting in account waiting to be taken for the loan repayment amount (I only use this account for my loan)
Day 2 - Barclays taken direct debit (goody)
Day 3 - Barclays return direct debit as unpaid to my account (?????)
Day 3 - Barclays again take direct debit (ok)
Day 4 - Baclays again taken direct debit (WHAT?????)
Day 5 - They charge for me for not having enough funds (well yeah you took the instalment twice)
Fun starts....try to 'phone them (:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ) The very pleasant but foreign lady cannot even find the County I live in let alone the Town...I am asked....are you sure it is there (Answer....well it was when I drove into work this morning!!!)
Work lunch-hour - massive queue of complaining Woolwich customers in Barclays. Eventually it is my turn - hurrah!!!! (Although late back to work)
Question....here is my bank statement I wish to see a manager please...
have to go back tomorrow as the manager is at lunch...would 2pm be ok ....no I work....ok then 1pm. That's fine.
See my old woolwich manager (although no longer a manager). Very pleasant..full of apologies sorts things out.
Next letter from Woolwich the following month...we regret your loan payment has not been received!!!
Back to the branch...saw a total !!!!!! (who I complained about) but basically nothing could be done taday and I would have to wait for my complaint to be investigated. (This in work time with blessing from my boss)
Really angry now...phoned Head Office...basically should have been dealt with in Branch. But eventually sorted and all charges refunded.
Month 3 - AGAIN CAN YOU BL00DY BELIEVE IT letter from Woolwich loans your payment not received....
Went in again....eventually got it all sorted...sorry there was a problem with the account number when the direct debit was transferred...
Woolwich loans send me a letter telling me which dates they will collect money....30th and then the usual date of 11th for July. So on the 28th they take the money...luckily I have enough in my account for the two day blip but it would have been all the same if I hadn't....telephoned Loan account...sorry there was a problem with the computer....am waiting to see if they bother to collect on the 11th or if there will yet another problem.
Thank God my loan finishes soon and I will need never deal with Barclays or Woolwich again...
Amen
Sorry it was so long..

i've got an open plan current acc and ive not heard anything about when im going to be changing over??
so at the moment im still woolwich!!
does anybody know when this will happen?
Sorry Suzie if it hasnt happen yet its gonna soon.
Some fat cat at barclays has a huge bonus riding on the completion of the transfer rollout, which has not been done nationwide at the same time. This I know because I got the problems 4 weeks before my brother did.
The fact that it is ill thought out, with under capacity to handle both customer service issues and the web site servis unstable due to high demand and under capacity is no his problem .... ONLY OURS!!!0 -
I was a very happy and contented Woolwich customer.... now I am and angry, frustrated Barclays one.
I have an offset mortgage, and I am Locked into the appalling systems, Barclays originally quoted me £275 redemption fee for the privilage of removing my custom. The wont waiver this fee as the dont feel that the problems experienced ,changes to the accounts, internet site or call center constitue a change to the terms and conditions.
When I looked into the redemption charge they even got this wrong, as the FSA has ruled that if the redemption charge was not written into the mortgage contract, you only need pay the amount applicable at the time that the mortgage was taken out!!!
Does anybody know anything about class actions? We offset customers are tied into a product, substancially different to operate than that which we had previously with lower service levels.0 -
I stumbled upon this thread after a lot of looking in the wrong place, but I feel that with the change-over oozing its poison across the country, many of us Woolys would value the experience of those who have gone before.
There are some tips to post to Watchdog bbc programme, & also The Sun newspaper. I've added my little h'pence worth so have probably gone overdrawn because my account is not functioning as it should! I urge others to make their voices heard, as it is time the meek do more than wait around to inherit the earth. Given the way Bl88dy Barking are handling this elevated male chicken [think about it;rearrange into a well known phrase or saying; say what you see!], we wouldn't be able to access it when it comes!:rotfl: :rotfl:
For a high street brand to treat its customers in this way is totally reprehensable, but unfortunately seems to be the fashion amongst the fattest of the cats. We HAVE to take a stand before our Right to FreeWill is eroded beyond redemption. :money:

I've been a Woolwich customer for over 15 years. For me, the Woolwich brand once represented the friendly face of banking.
I know my Woolwich bank account details off by heart. All of them. Laziness is probably the only reason I've put up with the Barclays takeover, the confusing open plan account and impersonal customer service.
Loyal Woolwich customers and employees have already been poisoned by the Barclays brand, but now Barclays are administering lethal doses.
Anyway I have decided to walk, nay, sprint away. If new account details are being thrust on me, I may as well switch banks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the transfer goes smoothly from my perspective but I hope this adds to what must surely be an administrative nightmare for Barclays.
Revenge!
If you can get out, then there are plenty of decent products on the market.
Good luck everyone.0 -
this whole transfer from woolwich to barclays has been handled so poor;y, it is amazing................they have sent out loads of EXPENSIVE blurb in the last YEAR, yet when it comes to the ACTUAL transfer-over date, they CANNOT send out on tiem the CRUCIAL STUFF...........I.E. THE DEBIT CARDS !!!.............so, here we are at 19/7/07 with no card ( but the cheque book came a month ago.!!! )...............we have however, received the STUPID cashcard for the asavings account ( with the woolwich it was a SUPERIOR electron debit card )
Therefor, Barclays have BREACHED the conditions of the changeover, as they said we would recieve EQUIVALENT OR BETTER account/ cards.
So, I will be taking legal action on this...........
We STILL await the debit cards for the current account........
AN ABSLOUTE MESS !!0
