i've got an open plan current acc and ive not heard anything about when im going to be changing over??
so at the moment im still woolwich!!
does anybody know when this will happen?

I'm being shifted over on the 24th June. I got my new Barclays account numbers this morning. Apparently, I've now got as Barclays Mortgage Current Account and a Barclays Flexible Savings account (pots 2-12) whatever they are. They've sent me a membership number for Barclays telephone banking, too. Nothing to say what type of card I'm getting. The letter also says if I've logged into Woolwich internet banking within the last three months, I'll automatically be sent my log in details for the Barclays website.

The Woolwich website hasn't been closed down, as someone else said. I logged into it this morning. If you've already been moved to Barclays, you'll no longer have access to the Woolwich website.

  • interesting, my switchover date is 24th June as well, my only indication of this was a letter on the 16th June with my new account numbers.

    I've received:

Nothing in the post, no cards, no cheque book, no credit book.

    I've had to:

Update my payroll on Monday 18th June, which was the last day that it could be done, otherwise my salary would have gone missing this month into the Barclays ether.

Can still log into the Woolwich Online Banking, but there is a little message saying work is being done.
  • well they have transferred my account, no card or cheque book as of yet.

  • Hello everyone. I too changed over from woolwich to Barclays on monday the 24th. I phoned them on Monday as I had no passwords to axcess my online or phone banking. They have arrived today but did not work!!! Have phoned them and have to wait another 3 days for new ones. I am told that I still have my £100 overdraft but when I went to the cashpoint yesterday it didnt make much sense!!!! Will go again today to see if I can make sense of it. I also asked what type of card I will be getting, I have a woolwich openplan electron card ( which by the way is still working) and told I will be receiving another electron card.Anyone else got a new electron card? reading the threads on here everyone else seems to be getting a Visa connect. Have had absolutley enough of Barclays and I have only been with them for 3 days!!!
    Bring back the Woolwich!!!!!!!!!!
    Halifax- settled £1800 (spent)
    Woolwich settled £505 (spent)

  • I was a delighted Woolwich customer for several years, with an Openplan offset mortgage arrangement.

Recently we moved house. This happened around the same time as our accounts "migrated" to Barclays. Cue long series of disasters and rubbish customer service which still shows no sign of coming to an end.

When our new mortgage was created, rather than maintaining the Offset link to our existing current/savings accounts (which was what we'd been told they would do, and what we had specified on the mortgage application form), they instead created a new batch of current/savings accounts for us. Even worse, they created these new accounts against an old address we had moved out of months before. (Yes, we had informed them both on the phone and in writing of our changes address, several times.) All the cheque books/cards/"security" details were sent to our old address. I found out later that they had erroneously created a whole new "identity" for us.

When I realised what they had done, on 13th April, I immediately phoned the Woolwich mortgage people, thinking they would be able to sort it out pretty quickly. Nearly ten weeks later, nothing has been sorted at all, and in fact since then they have opened a further TWO openplan accounts (without any authorisation by us), again at the wrong address!

Nine months after applying for the new mortgage, and two months after said mortgage completed, I have still not earned a penny from offsetting as Barclays have still not managed to link my "proper" current/savings accounts to my mortgage. We have lost a packet because of this - we have substantial savings, and this was the only reason we asked to take out an offset mortgage! We have lost lots of money in other ways too, i.e. over £100 spent on phone calls, money lost due to time taken off work on lengthy (and fruitless) branch visits, etc.

To say I'm sick of Barclays would be the understatement of the century.

The worst aspect of all this is the total and utter lack of any effort from anybody in Barclays to make any attempt to sort this out. We have made over 100 calls in ten weeks, and been passed along to just about every department in Barclays you could think of. Everyone just passes us on to someone else. At least ten individuals now have claimed that they would take responsibility and phone us back within x number of days. Not one of those people has done so. We have logged official complaints - they have told us they would respond within four weeks, then four weeks later we just get another letter saying they've done nothing and will write again in another four weeks. Meanwhile we are losing money day on day due to them not giving us the offset arrangement they supposedly sold us last October.

I would dearly love to leave Barclays but obviously it would cost me money to move mortgage. I'm basically being held to ransom by a company which has failed to give me the product it sold me and is not remotely interested in sorting the problems out for me. Barclays suck.

I too have had problems with the move but am fortunate enough to be able to get up and walk away from Barclays. Not without putting in an official complaint and yes escalating it for those of you who want to know how follow the link here http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/guides/making_a_complaint.html

All DDs and STOs will be transfered automatically :)

Yeah thats what they told me too.

I got a letter from M&S the other day saying "we hear you have changed your bank account, would you please fill in this new DD mandate & make payments for your card manually until the new DD is set up".
  • I went in to Barclays yesterday to make a substantial overpayment on my mortgage, who after much messing about told me they would have to take my money and write a cheque to Woolwich, who would then credit it to my account.

Needless to say, I kept my paying in receipt...not that I'm paranoid, mind
