woolwich to barclays

Like many of you I did not realise that my Woolwich access had closed until I tried to access my account details online on Friday. I am a bit twitchy about the whole exercise of the Woolwich to Barcalys fiasco. But after reading that some peoples direct debits & standing orders have not transferred across I have tried to view mine on the Barclays web page but cannot find any:eek: Can anyone tell me where I can view them? I think I foolishly put so much relliance in the Woolwich handling/listing of them I don't even have a record of what comes out when except for trawling through past statements.
I also have the Woolwich account used as a nominated account for my A&L savings account to transfer into & I have some pending payments coming into the account later this month. Should I wait & see if they are sucessful or try & shift them now?
Any advice appreciated, cheers Madcow0 -
Hi
There may be a quicker way to find your direct debits but this is how I found mine.
Log onto Barclays internet banking and goto the see statement page. On the left hand side you will see a question I want to? and a drop down box, usually with Delete Payees displayed. Click on the box and select Change Payments then click Go. Select the account number they should be attached to and click Next in the bottom righthand side of the screen. A list of direct debits should be displayed.
Hope it helps0 -
We received a Barc. cheque book each today....no cards yet though. And a letter from Woolwich closing our account (to transfer I assume)....when do we get the new cards!! Glad this isn't my main account.

Thanks, I found out tonight by entering a question on their help button. Followed the instructions & all our direct debits all appear to be there. Cross-fingers!
Also we had some cheque books arrive today, but no cards. Wifeys Woolwich debit card is still working in the cashpoint ok. :j

Guess what? Cards came today so will see if they work, some much for 56 days I think they got their numbers wrong. I was being quite firm at the time!!!
Wife was passing local branch of Barclays so popped in. Big long ques everywhere, even outside and along the road. Loads of people closing accounts and lots of moaning by ex Woolwich customers and original Barclays ones. Not enough staff to cope with the demand but there was a big welcome sign with balloons.0 -

after the fiasco at the weekend things seem to be on the up, the correct connect cards have been issued and will arive in 3 to 5 days, new pins on there way, my credit card late payment charge which was caused my not having the correct cards from barclays has been refunded, they have also agreed to refund all my telephone call charges, written appology from barclays about the problems we have recieved so far, so all in all were now quite satisfied i must say that sitting down and going through things with the branch manager has done the job.:j:beer: :j0

This is all very frustrating-I would never have chosen Barclays either but feel a bit locked in as I have a Woolwich Offset account for the mortgage. Thankfully most of our DDs are still with another bank as it was too much hassle to change.
We have the Barclays chequebooks but what is the use without the cards to go with them?
Any problems though and I will be emailing the contacts cited earlier.
I hope everyone's problems get sorted soon.0 -
My wife and I have recently been transfered too, we have our chequebooks, pin's and cards. The cards are 'Connect' Cards with no guarantee facility. On trying to find out what 'type' of card we have I have received various responses from different members of the Barclays team. I have been told its a Visa Debit and an other occasion a Visa Electron with a different card style.
How do I tell the difference? Does anybody know if Barclays dont ?? Beginning to wonder whether the account is worth keeping....0 -

We had a Woolwich Offset account for our mortgage too, and are in the process of moving that elsewhere too. I rang Barclays yesterday to try to transfer some money to a savings acct elsewhere and was furious with the way my call was handled. They failed me on the security checks because I was £3 out on the amount of a direct debit. When I asked them, very politely, to stay on the line while I got the exact figure from the internet, they refused, despite me pointing out how long and politely I had waited for them to answer my call in the first place. Then they sent me a chequebook, which I have today crossed through on every single cheque and will return to my local Barclays branch, together with the card, if it ever arrives. I opened a new account elsewhere far quicker and with the full complement of cards and chequebooks delivered in days.
