Re: Royal Mail Compensation
They've told me in the past that as they couldn't get in touch with the recipient they are assuming the parcel was delivered. Not much of a stretch!0 -
My post office is adamant that's not the case. He says that if it's been posted through a post office, any under charging is the fault of the post office not the sender. Therefore should be OK.
A couple of years ago, before I changed PO's, I used one where they put stamps on to parcels/packets etc. The counter staff said that this was "more efficient" than printing labels i.e quicker for them.
These became detached in the post and I had a flurry of eBay buyers complaining that they had been surcharged for underpayment of postage.
I always insist on a printed label nowadays....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -

Hate to be pedantic, but it's not the post office who are putting the price up.0 -
been looking through the dif couriers etc again, as I cant wait until RM contact me regarding the OBA..
I have just spoken to someone who uses Dispatch bay, and htey have had no problems, anyone else used them?
as far as I can see ( I have registered, so if anyone wants a referral please let me know) it wil cost £2.60 for a packet/parcel up to 1.5 kgs
The person I spoke to..( a large seller on ebay) was saying royal mail adds the fuel duty ( 2.5%) and THEN the vat.
so it is £2.85 + 2.5% then the vat
Might try a few with dispatch bay while waiting for RM to gt back to me...Work to live= not live to work0 -

I've done the comparison groundwork during the last two days and ironically the manager of my Post Office whole heartedly agrees with me and better value is offered by other delivery services and has anyone sought compensation and battled with Royal Mail who firstly send you a 12 Pack of 1st Class Stamps in the hope you go away who I had to threaten with the issuing of an N1 Claim Form in the Small Claims Court some time ago and only then did they sit up and listen eventually getting settlement from them the amount was just £43.00 with the goods damaged during its custody and in their control.
No, I was referring to you paying £1 for a signature. You don't need it. Don't pay for it.
Not sure what the relevance of your postmaster is.0 -

it would be charged as with other under paid items
I took a small parcel to my friendly local postie on Wednesday. Thought it was ok, but it only squeezed through the slot. He told me that if he took it, it would most certainly be checked at the other end, and the recipient would be requested to pay the surcharge.
I took the parcel home, cut down a box and then took it back - this time it went through the slot. Cannot afford to have customers being asked to pay surcharges for under-payment of postage.
Have ordered postal tubes, as it is too much work to cut down and re-size my boxes. At least I can still use my boxes for overseas.0
