The 15cm cubes I mentioned in post 640 are from Boxbargain: http://www.boxbargain.co.uk/goods/goodsDetail.asp?cateCode=0010010000&pCode=079
We've just ordered some and got £2 off our first order plus a 2%credit against future orders.
So 120 cost £30.40 + VAT before the credit. This works out at just over 25p each + VAT inclusive of next day delivery.0 -
I mentioned earlier about 6in cube boxes probably being just oversize for the 16cm cube small parcels rate as 6in is the internal size, and even then it's only approximate.
I therefore took a packed sample parcel to our village Post Office just now and our friendly postmaster just squeezed it through. However he warned that it might be rejected at the sorting office. That's not a chance we want to take!
Earlier we spoke to our box supplier and was told that they'd put their boxes through the RM gauge and they just fitted. However that presumably was without tape and labels. Tellingly though, they are going to bring out a slightly smaller box later in the year - once they've used up their current stocks!
We've therefore sourced a 15cm cube. Moreover this is the external measurement so there should be no problem. However for a pack of 120 it's 27p each + VAT rather than the 20p we pay for the 6in cube. I haven't named the supplier as I'm not sure it's within the rules?
Edit note: I'm told it is allowed to name the supplier so here's a link: http://www.boxbargain.co.uk/goods/goodsDetail.asp?cateCode=0010010000&pCode=079
If you can find a better price for a 15cm cube please post here or PM me. Thanks.
Just make sure your local Post Office understands about small parcel sizes....!0 -
Thank goodness for my village PO. What is going on with large PO's. My village PO is in a house and is open 2 mornings a week. The sub postmistress works alone. She has had the same booklet that all PO's have received. I have had no problems with any of my parcels, even cubes.0

If a sorting office rejects a package as a small parcel even though it was accepted by the Post Office branch does anyone know what happens?
Presumably the customer will be hit with the extra postage + a surcharge + have had to go to their local sorting office to pick the parcel up?
If so, almost certainly 1 lost customer!0 -

it would be charged as with other under paid items0 -
I told my local Post Office Manager yesterday I'm no longer going to use its service which is now uncompetitive and only for letters and celebration cards! Who have introduced a 3 tier size levels for small parcels and more levels of lesser Compensation and another dubious method to hike up their prices for and still an awful service so I've opened an account with Yodel's Collect+ with pricing starting as low as £3.99 that includes Tracking and for a confirmation Signature Delivery £1.00 extra which is far more better value with individuals like who use Amazon and eBay rethinking and certainly moving away from Royal Mail in their droves but does their CEO know the eventual calamity of its new pricing structure I dint think so!0

Just picking up on one point, you don't need to pay for the signature unless your order is £150 or more. Save yourself the money!0 -
If your referring to Collect+'s level of Compensation it starts @ £50.00 then upwards and if you compare this to Royal Mails starting levels which is a lot less and better value adding £1.00 for peace of mind is well worth. I've done the comparison groundwork during the last two days and ironically the manager of my Post Office whole heartedly agrees with me and better value is offered by other delivery services and has anyone sought compensation and battled with Royal Mail who firstly send you a 12 Pack of 1st Class Stamps in the hope you go away who I had to threaten with the issuing of an N1 Claim Form in the Small Claims Court some time ago and only then did they sit up and listen eventually getting settlement from them the amount was just £43.00 with the goods damaged during its custody and in their control.0
