I wasn't recommending you use this service.
What I was getting at is that its pretty irrelevant even stating the price because the two services are not the same.

Its similar when people compare the new RM 1st class prices with MyHerpes - its not a straight comparison because one can take 5 times longer to arrive than the other and of course the slower service will be cheaper.

Well, what a pain in the backside, the accuont is not working, the online help links are invalid, I might as well have been smashing my head against the screen for the last 2 hours.

I've sent an email to the woman who I spoke to to set up the account.

Oh, and happy freaking days, she is 'away til 16th'. ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sent an email to mine today, she is out of office til 10th :rotfl:

There might be a problem with the OBA. I managed to get my order booked at about 3:45pm but I've not been able to get back in since to check on some prices.

It was down earlier, I could not access my account either

I put parcels in one bag and letters & large letters together in another. You're not supposed to do this but my Mail Centre doesn't seem to mind and it cuts down on a couple of bags. Don't worry about having only a couple of items in a bag. I occasionally only have one small bubble envelope going abroad on its own in a sack! In the Mail Centres they have to turn the sacks completely inside out to make sure nothing is stuck.

Thanks, that is good to know - mine has offered to actually sort all mine for me, not sure if that would work - means driving a bit further but they are being very helpful, he has also offered to get the postman to drop off sacks for me when I need them!

I have been this afternoon to post a few items, all managed to fit through the small parcel gauge but I did notice the large letter gauge seems smaller, very cheeky if it is!

I am going to be very careful about what I sell now, I mostly sell kids shoes and clothes, will only sell single items that I know will fit as a small parcel, anything larger will go into big bundles that will be sent via courier.

It's crazy that royal mail have introduced so many changes in one go, I really feel sorry for all of the post office staff who will be facing all of the customers who are not prepared for the changes :(

I have the old card gauge and the new one here and they appear the same to me - are people suggesting that RM either distributed millions last year of the wrong size or distributed millions this year wrongly?

Also I know that some of the less regular posters are confused about the pricing, but can I please ask that they at least take a look at the PDF guides, or even the Royal mail site itself- then clarify any questions. Regulars are very patient, but I am sure it would be more useful to have a stab at the pricing first so that you get used to looking up the new sizes- then perhaps clarfy here to make sure you haven't missed an exemption.

My mail centre today still has managers on the counter rather than regular staff

Thanks everyone for letting me know they could not get in either. Will log out and check back again tomorrow. I reckon they are swamped with people like me, trying to log in and have crashed it or something.

    Pah.

Do you have no phone contacts?

No. They have been vague on those, just email contacts.

    Just to agree with Soolin.

I have a plastic size gauge I bought from Staples last year and I've used it for large letters with no problems at all. When compared to the new cardboard gauge there's no difference in size at all.

That seems a big jump, have you checked it out, maybe as has been suggested look at a courier as well. Postage shouldn't be taking any of us by surprise, we have been discussing it (and worrying about it now) for a month on here.

I know you have had issues with buyers not liking your postage so as was suggested in your other thread you need to be keeping a better eye on costs and not guessing, overcharging will kill your account but undercharging will hit your pocket.

If you are content to lose your account the please remember that will be it for ever, you can't open another one later as once connected that will be banned too.it will also affect anyone considered connected to you, and their accounts will go to. Now you have a restriction it is going to be hard to turn round, it is almost too late, but it can be done and if you post on your original thread I'm sure we can offer suggestions

    cheers.
I opened an account with hermes last night and sent the item off today. They only wanted £6.55 (which includes the extras of compensation upto £100 and a signature). Hopefully it'll get there!

I guess I'll need to just basically give lots of small/cheap items away for a loss (free postage) if I want to try to keep my account.
I doubt i'll be able to do it, but we'll see.

I'm not overly bothered if I'm honest (although I'd obviously rather not lose it).

They should use a 'rep' system like how some forums operate.
At this point in time, I'd be slightly red, but If I sell an item to someone with a very good rep, who likes my service and gives me good/positive feedback(rep), I'd be back in the green without any selling limits.

Everyone seemed so happy with my service, but It just takes one person to trash my ratings, and i'm in trouble for the firts time ever (about 6 years I think since I opened the account>?)
