charlesb and nightsong: that was my opinion based on the quoted price of £5.60 and will not get into an argument about it
If it were £5.65 then yes a medium parcel 1st class, obviously much more than £3 for small parcel 1st class.
And I've read all the posts (all 28 pages).
Agree with soolin's opinion - these are our opinions, if you're not sure read the documentation on Royal Mail's website and draw your own conclusions. Royal Mail's own staff and the Post Offices potentially know less than some of the people posting on here.0 -
I am going to send everything 1st class, and as I only have one foreign parcel today I will send it regular mail... as well as the large letter size parcels. I can't be faffing around with so many bags!
I was told that if I wasn't VAT registered that it would be cheaper to send Special Delivery (and possibly International) from Post Office, but as I've not got an OBA yet, I cannot verify it yet.0 -

Not if it fits the (16cm) cube exception.0 -
ok - here's something else I noticed , correct me if I'm wrong .
if I had a 9cm plastic ball which weighed 50grams .and wanted to send it airmail to America , it would be cheaper than sending it inland UK.
right ?0 -

There's a cube and roll exception that mean they are still classed as small parcels.
The online price finder has been updated, the i's by the parcels give more information http://www.royalmail.com/price-finder0 -

ah , thanks .
for the 16cm cubed no dimension can be above 16cm right ?
but jeez - the post offices are never gonna learn this stuff ! my p.o. can barely manage the prices of large letters !0 -

That's my understanding0 -
Blimey, I thought you'd just be able to drop off the parcels at the post office without having to have different bags for everything. PO would then check order and put the parcels in their 1st/2nd class bags. No wonder my small local post office wants an exemption!
I only send parcels, so that's just a bag for 2nd class (RM48) and 1st (RM24), with single lines on order as average weight for parcels.
The PPI documentation is required for checking at the Mail Centres
missing PPI docs lead to charging
you dont want that
As for all the separating. that is part of the deal in getting lower pricing
Same for bulk mailers with how they send mail. The more finely it is sorted, the lower the price0
