They tried to charge me £6.30  for a parcel 40x25x6 2nd class recorded, kept repeating 16x16x16 rule, till I showed her the print off from RM with 45x35x8 up to 2kg and even brought my ruler out too.
She was very apologetic and said my £3.70 was right
The person behind me was a friend of the person in front and overhead my conversation and called back her friend loudly telling everyone she'd been overcharged and to get her money back.
The staff should have had much better training, did feel sorry for them.
As an occasional seller don't think there are other options for me
I think the PO were right to charge you that as the 16x16x16 is cm not inches. What are you measuring your 40x25x6 in?8 years of being on a DMP finished 3/3/140 -

The parcel was in cm's and 455 grams. I checked Royal mail's web site before I left. I think she was just tired and confused.
I did have the price/size print out with me from their web site.
small parcels:
Length 45cm
Width 35cm
Depth 8cm
Weight up to 2kg max
Exceptions. The following items are also priced as Small Parcels:
Parcels that measure up to Length: 16cm and Width: 16cm and Depth: 16cm and do not exceed 2kg.
£3.70 up from £3.20
medium parcels
Length 61cm
Width 46cm
Depth 46cm
Weight up to 20kg max
£6.30
She was quoting tiny size in cm but trying to charge me for medium parcel when it should have been a small one.0 -

Could someone please clarify for me a
point on the business account. You need to send 1000+ items a year to qualify, can this be a mix of large letters and parcels or is it a 1000 of each? I have spoken to 2 advisors and having looked at my notes I made during the conversations I have been told 2 different things.
Thanks0 -
It's 1000 items. I have just opened one on the basis that I posted around 2000 parcels/large letters in the last year...0

Thanks so much for that, I couldn't find the link anywhere :T:dance: :dance:0 -
I used the post office to post a drill a few months ago. Tracked. It cost me about £12.
This morning, they want to charge me £25.00!
I'm looking to use myhermes instead, although, I'm thinking of quitting Ebay altogether. It's becoming impossible to turn a profit and i'm not sure it's worth the stress.
I appear to have somehow dropped below the minimum seller standard, and got a message from Ebay about further account limitations where they advise me to offer free postage.
From what I gather, messages like the one I received are often followed by a ban, so maybe they'll make the decision for me soon! lol.
I'm sort of surprised. Without bragging, I'd consider myself a pretty good seller. 100% positive feedback with over 400 stars. I always post the item the next day (and sometimes the same day!) after receiving payment.
Lots of my items are fairly expensive, and they've made a fair bit of money from me.
I'll watch this space. Such a shame there's not more alternatives that get as much traffic as Ebay.0 -
If you're selling drills and branded items try Amazon, although they're more expensive on fees than Ebay and often stricter on sellers.
As for post, even £12 for posting it sounds a lot, Parcelforce 48 with £50 insurance via Ebay/Paypal is £11.99 for up to 30kg and that's on the high side, you can get some good courier deals for well under £12..0
