If there's longer than 12 hours of the auction to run you can change it.
I know RM's communication has been poor but so has Ebay's. It wouldn't be too difficult to add a pop up on postage when listing items for sale directing them to changes.
I'd have thought some sellers of bulky books on Amazon could get stung a bit too.
Thank you, the remainder have 5 days or more to run, so off to recalculate and I'll add a note so watchers will hopefully see before they bid.0 -
And to think annie, if you were a eBay shop keeper, they would be removing your top rated seller badge for not offering free postage.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Have just been busily making up 6" cube boxes and filling them with shredded paper to package my sales rather than my usual 'smother it with bubble wrap' and pop into a mailing bag method - it took much longer! Either I'll have to get speedier with my parcel tape gun or bribe an offspring to make up a load for me before they go back to school. Have also noticed that the cubes take up a lot more space on the back seat of my car than the mailing bags ever did.....my local P.O. (a very small rural one) is going to love me!0

Total chaos in my PO this morning. The staff had no idea what to charge for parcels. The woman in front of me was £5+ second class for parcels instead of her usual £2.70 first class. Mine didn't seem to be up much £3 instead of £2.70 but she did get out a measuring tape for 1 of them and then took off 2 stamps and said"that will have to do"
Hope they are correct don't fancy having to sort out the mess with my buyers if they all have cards left for insuffient postage:mad:0 -

That's dreadful, I had no idea that was essential now. Their rules are getting as daft as some of the governments.0 -
does this help people? obviously it misses the tube/cube,but at least shows the flow of changes through the levels
it also highlights howfar out the prices are when you get to 1-2Kg small parcel and above
the 10-20KG prices are eye watering0 -
I sell the occasional LP on Amazon - thta's going to become a thing of the past. I could cope when Amazon allowed only £1.26 while Royal Mail charged £2.20 second class as a packet. But now a sensibly packaged LP will cost £5.20, as using the corrogated senders I use I cannot get anywhere near the crazy 8mm allowed (which goes for £2.60) , and if I did there would be NIL protection for the LP's - it's not as if they are going through letterbox! So I will withdraw all my records off Amazon, as I'm sure many others will - just not worth it any more. So Buyers lose, Amazon looses, and Royal Mail looses -brilliant!!! I have e-mailed Royal Mail pointing out the anomaly and suggesting a thickness of 16mm - but I now nothing will happen - I expect a reply telling me it will benefit the customer. AND I'VE JUST DOUBLE-CHECKED AND THE 8mm THICKNESS WILL ALSO MEAN CD's WITH BOXES WILL ALSO BECOME PROHIBITIVE TO SEND!!!0

Off to my PO now. I've weighed and measured mine so know how much each one costs, and if they try to charge me less I'm not having it. I like my 100% feedback and wish to keep it.0 -
just noticed that card says 'letters over 100g are charged at parcel rate"
so how does that work? it skips the whole large letter price bands and goes to £3?0 -

You couln't make this up could you!
My mail centre today has managers on the counter and my usual darling staff nowhere to be seen. I gave him my sack told him I was not a contract user but I stamped mine at home, he asked whether I had used the new rates and when I said yes he just took them happily and 'stamped' them with thepost mark thingy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
