I sell the occasional LP on Amazon - thta's going to become a thing of the past. I could cope when Amazon allowed only £1.26 while Royal Mail charged £2.20 second class as a packet. But now a sensibly packaged LP will cost £5.20, as using the corrogated senders I use I cannot get anywhere near the crazy 8mm allowed (which goes for £2.60) , and if I did there would be NIL protection for the LP's - it's not as if they are going through letterbox! So I will withdraw all my records off Amazon, as I'm sure many others will - just not worth it any more. So Buyers lose, Amazon looses, and Royal Mail looses -brilliant!!! I have e-mailed Royal Mail pointing out the anomaly and suggesting a thickness of 16mm - but I now nothing will happen - I expect a reply telling me it will benefit the customer. AND I'VE JUST DOUBLE-CHECKED AND THE 8mm THICKNESS WILL ALSO MEAN CD's WITH BOXES WILL ALSO BECOME PROHIBITIVE TO SEND!!!

It is 80mm not 8mm, for a small parcel.

RM wanted almost £6 for something that used to cost £2.20, off to Collect Plus from now on I think!

Well, spent this morning packing parcels from sales at the weekend - the majprity are going via My Hermes while I wait for the account log in details to be sent to me.

From what I gather, I can just print off a loads of licence stamp things and stick them on as I order the service via the Online Manager. I've not had any info other than an online demo so going to check that this afternoon. That will be handy to manage my weekly allowance as I'll print off a sheet a week. I am just so worried I will not go over the allowance and get charged.

My Hermes collect from your door for an extra 30p. Might be cheaper than petrol. :) Mine collects mine from my safe place too, I do not even have to wait in.

Yes you can print as many PPI impression stamps off as you like - they are worthless in themselves.

What do you mean by allowance?

OK, hands up! I'm a once a year spring clear out seller and got caught out :o

Of course I will swallow the increased charges on completed listings posted today and others that have bids on them.

Can I change listings with watchers but no bids to reflect the new prices? I could put an edit note on the listing to say that I have done so.

Check on My Hermes prices, I have found some have been 10p cheaper than the last RM prices - and that is to have them collected from my front door. Crazy.

Great, just twigged that this morning when I was reading the gumpf again, that might save me some time.

Allowance as in min 1000 a year. I KNOW I'll do 1000 a year but am worried I will not iyswIm. 21 a week = 1000 a year. I am closing for 3-4 weeks in the autumn so that is a worry.

I worked it out over 45 weeks and it works out at approx 23 - 24 parcel a week...

OK, I see what you mean. There are prices for businesses doing under 1000 parcels a year that are still cheaper than PO prices - perhaps if you don't hit the quota they will move you to that the following year? I don't know, I'm just guessing.

    Re the 16cm x16cm x 16cm small parcels limit.

You'd think that 6ins x 6ins x 6ins boxes would be fine as 6ins is as close to 15 1/4cms as makes no difference. However it appears as though the box size is nominal as the ones we have in stock aren't exact cubes and one side is just over 16cms. This is even without tape and the plastic envelope we have to use for customs.

It looks as though we'll have to use 5in boxes now.

It won't affect us too much but I'm flagging it up as others may get caught out.
