What annoys me is that the measurements are so fixed, one of the parcels i send is 22cm long (well within the 45cm allowed), 13cm width (well within the 35 allowed ) and 9cm deep (1cm over the 8cm allowed) so will need to go as a large parcel.

    each measurement +10%?
there will always be a cut off
I sent some bike forks the other days and they were a couple of CM too long for SD
So I had to pay for Parcelforce
    its nothing new

and if you want a laugh.
Read here about Moya and RMs strategy
see how important the parcels business is

I just cannot believe that a company would employ such an idiot!
She says £4 out of every £10 they earn is from the parcel service yet they put the prices up way beyond that of all of their competitors!
What a bunch of idiots, or are they brilliant business people and i'm missing something?

Moya was brought in for one purpose

http://www.moyagreene.com/ not easy to read but basically her record at Canada Post fitted with an RM wanting prepared for privitisation
Now how do you think those expensive prices look for a company needing 'saved'

What about a combined size, add the 3 dimentions together (35 + 45 + 8 = 88cm) if your combined dimentions are less (mine are 44cm) then its a small parcel

None of the sides can exceed 13cms for a small parcel if you ar eusing the cube exmeption.

You're just making it more confusing. Sizing is really no different to weight as far as cut off points go. There has to be some point that is a cut off, unless you charge a flat rate for everything, which would probably make letters quite expensive! Wherever the cut off is made there will be someone saying it should be a bit bigger or heavier.

I have one item that ends up weighing between 99 and 102g when packed, so I'd be happier if the cut off weight was 103g.

Basically anyone who isn't in the know will always assume that postage is charged purely on weight and how quick you want it to reach its destination.

I'm amazed at how often I see people buying jiffy or mailer bags in the post office and doing their packing right there and then. The 8cm depth ruling is certainly going to catch a lot of people out.

Arghh, trying to list some business stock- have you any idea how much vintage china measures at least 5 3/4 inches in any direction? There is no way any of this will be going into a 6 inch box and travelling safely!
