Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

I have also received the email informing me of the charges I will pay for not having Sky Talk etc...incredible. I don't have the time right now to research the best alternative deal but soon I will phone up and ask for a MAC.
Also, while I was getting around 14Mbps down and 1.1Mbps up with O2, now - with the exact same equipment - I am only getting 8 down and 0.8 up. This is probably because I am only on ADSL modulation, while I was on ADSL2+ with O2. B****cks!0 -
I declined migration to Sky as am still getting FREE o2 BB.
My next bill is going to be a mix of part FREE (in contract) period and chargeable (out of contract)
Will they bill me at £12.50 (with mobile discount) or £17.50 full fee?0 -
As you haven't migrated, the billing should be related to o2's charges rather than sky's.
At least you won't be in any minimum contract, so all options are open to you, which will include a sky deal to move now and enter a 12 month contract.0 -

you might be getting lower speeds if your line is still being tested for best speed this is normally the first 10 days after connection0 -

May I ask a quick question about line testing? I've just been transferred and plugged my sky router an hour ago. My speed has dropped from 16Mbps with O2 to 3.5Mbps with Sky now! Is that a usual drop? Should I expect such low speed during line testing in the next 10 days? Or do you thing I should call them to say something is wrong?
Thanks0 -

No that's a normal start point with line testing. Mine started just under 4mb. DLM usually kicks in within 72 hours and can last for 10 days. You can keep an eye on what's happening if you login to the Sky router. Once it starts it can go up and down till it settles on the best speed. Just don't restart your router during this time.0 -

FWIW this is how my speeds have changed so far (on day 5):
BE 6305 1066 (immediately before migration)
Sky
Day 1 4095 606
Day 2 4096 672
Day 3 5635 625
Day 4 5290 468
Day 5 5904 568
With BE I was on ADSL2+, but that seems to have changed to ADSL2 with Sky. Somehow it doesn't look as if my upload speed will get back to where it had been with BE.Stompa0 -
Thanks! Actually, this morning (day 2), I was already near 6Mbps, so, it's going in the right direction!
I'm just surprised that when I log on MySky, it says "Line testing is not currently in progress on your telephone line." So, why does it go up?
Anyway, I'll be patient and wait for the 10 days to see if I come back to my pre-Sky speed.0 -

I get the impression from reading other forums, that they're just very slow at updating this message.
Extremely slow.
Mine still says that testing began on 27.11.13 and will be completed in 10 days. Check back later to see your confirmed speed.
It was actually completed in 5 days but I'm still waiting on the message to be updated.0
