    The original letter I received from SKY was for £7.50 a month with no tie in.

    SKY offered £7.50 a month with £50 credit for a tie in (Last November call).

    Mine is a 12 month contract at £5 pm (no credit) which is fine for me for now. To recap it is only b/b. I binned the TV last November and use BT for the phone line (paid for up front).

    I telephoned O2 last July and stated that I was leaving because I did not want to go to Sky. O2 then gave me 12 months free broadband to stay with them, which I accepted and is recorded on the notes of the conversation at their end.

    This week, out of the blue I have received a bill from Sky for £16.50 for broadband following my transfer to Sky. Following complaints to both O2 and Sky, it turns out that my account was transferred on 6th Jan and they are now billing me £7.50 per month (first bill includes last month and this month, though I don't know how they get that to £16.50).

    O2 says they should accept me on my current promotional offer with no tie in - Sky says that the promotional offer is the £7.50 a month with no tie in that I was on before the free broadband offer. They accept that it is on their system that I do not wish to transfer to Sky, but say that because I failed to reply to a letter they supposedly sent 60 days ago (which I did not receive) I am 'deemed to have consented to the switch', but there is no tie in and I am free to leave sky at any time. What a load of cobblers.

    After about three hours of phone calls, they say that all deals they are able to offer me are subject to me accepting a one year contract (which I cannot do, even if I wanted to, as I am moving within the next few months and will have to cancel the contract at that point anyway).

    The call centre girl even had the cheek to tell me that Sky doesn't operate a complaints procedure, though I have since been told that complaints can be made through the website.

    To say I am livid is an understatement.

    Obviously I am not going to let this drop, but I just wondered if anyone else has been moved over against their wishes while still in a free broadband deal with O2?

    My experience has been different (see above) but I would be livid too but that's Sky for you. I love a fight personally speaking and on the face of it, you are equipped to do so. But cut your losses and dump them as soon as you can? Three hours of phone calls add up to about £9 and you have only just started....

    Good luck whichever route you take.

    How are they making money out of you then? Is your Line rental with BT?

    I have been just reached the end of the line testing period, and my BB is fine. Actually possibly slightly faster than with O2. So, no complaints here...
    How they make money from me, I have no idea, since they gave me free BB for 10 months AND free line rental for one year (or on average £1.25 per month for BB+ line rental)

    What kind of tactics did you use in the phone conversation with sky?

    Was it a 'I'm leaving and there's nothing you can do about it, no matter what you offer me' or 'what offers have you got, that sounds interesting?'

    In my case, it was a 'I'm leaving and there's nothing you can do about it, no matter what you offer me'. But I guess I sounded convincing since it was really my attitude and I was not "pretending". Of course, I changed my mind with the Free BB and line offer....

    The £7.50 deal they have put you on is the curent welcome deal to o2 customers migrating to sky with no minimum term.

    Sky don't honour any previous o2 free bb for a year offer.

    But you have grounds to complain!

    The letter they sent you (that you didn't receive) giving 60 days notice of the migration (that they now want to rely on), asks that we confirm our acceptance (by paying the next bill that comes after receipt of the letter).

    In your case, as you have been getting free bb from o2, your next bill would have been for zero! So you haven't confirmed anything with Sky, and they cannot say that you "consented" when you did not have any "next bill" to pay!
