The service should still work with the existing 02 router though?

Well I switch today, and am hoping I'll be able to continue using my existing third-party (TP-Link) router, using the settings here:

I guess I'll find out later if it works!

Sky have already "promised" in writing that they will allow ex Be customers to keep using their TP-Link routers.

Will be interesting if they renege on that one!

Have they? AFAIK BE have never supplied TP-Link routers themselves.

The only thing I'm slightly concerned about is whether the login/username: install@o2broadband.co.uk will work OK for ex-BE customers as well as ex-O2 ones. I imagine it probably should.....

    Correct.

But Sky promised BE customers could keep using their own routers (ie not be forced to use a sky one).
"We are also aware that some BE customers would like to keep using their own routers and certain features such as Static IP, which is why we're working hard to develop support for these important features on Sky's network,"

Well that was easy. Came home last night and have migratred to Sky BB but seems to like the O2 kit so I had absolutely nothing to do last night, everything up and runnign as it was before.

I might have a go at changing over to the Sky box at the weekend to see if the wifi strength is any better, but so far, so good.

Did a speed test yetserday and getting 5mb download 1mb upload which is pretty good, I got around 4mb before with O2, I'm quite a distance away from the exchange so never get blistering speds, but 5mb is plenty for Netflix and iplayer.

Please, do let us know what are your findings! (I'm supposed to switch next Monday)

Yes, but that just says that they're 'working hard to develop support'. I'm not convinced that it means that they're necessarily there yet, or that they will support absolutely any router that a former BE customer might be using.

The "working hard to develop support" bit surely refers to getting a static IP etc, not being able to use your own router!

I translate that as 'maybe at some date in the future, maybe never at all'.

This is from Skys FAQ's for BE customers:
Q: Can we use our own routers?

A: We will be changing our policy on this both for BE members who are switched to Skys network and also for the rest of our Sky Broadband customers. Its going to take us a bit of time to be able to extend this to all Sky customers. BE members can continue to use their own routers now, and after your service has been switched to Skys network...
