Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

.........If Sky are capable of entering the 'special deal' into their system for billing purposes, which obviously they must be able to do, then why can't the same system generate an email or letter with the correct info on it-or why can't the account holder view that deal in MySky before first billing?
You don't have to be a cynic to answer that one.
Apart from all the evidence posted here of the actuality not matching the (unconfirmed) deals, see all the comments from aggrieved o2 customers on that which? link you posted.0 -
I've just migrated and the £75 credit is noted at the top of my first bill.0

I've just contacted Sky via Live Chat and (eventually) my entire offer was confirmed correctly. However, don't do this unless you have 30 minutes or more to spare, as it's the online equivalent of watching paint dry. The advisors (offshore going by the grammar used) seem incapable of coping with more than one question at a time, and at first insisted that they couldn't give me any pricing info, 'as no billing had yet been generated'. However if pressed, they can tell you what products and then what offers have been applied to your account, which allows you to deduce the price (e.g. your line rental is discounted by £15.40pm, so it's zero).
Armed with a print-out of that chat I will be proceeding with the switch. But they could make this a lot less tedious. I'm now wondering if I can face the hassle of getting back on the phone to try and get an increased account credit of £75?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Deals change all the time, different people push harder and may get better offers, that's how it works.
If people are happy to pay the quoted rate, then Sky are happy to take their money. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I switch over to Sky today sometime, so when I get home tonight I'll have the fun of having to set up everything.
Fingers crossed.
I ended up with free line rental for 12 months (saving £15 x 12) and £7.50 for broadband unlimited (wire) for 12 months with a £40 credit. I was happy with that deal as cheaper than what I was paying before as even with o2 giving me free broadband I still had the £15 line rental.
As Macman has posted, the harder you push the better the deals, depends on how much time you have to invest. Me, I was happy with the deal I negotiated at the time.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -
My bb and line went live yesterday. Unplugged O2 router in the morning and plugged in new sky hub at lunchtime, very easy with no problems. Email later in the day with details of what I will be paying which is exactly the offer I accepted on the phone. £5 per month for line rental, bb and calls anytime. Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0

The service should still work with the existing 02 router though?
Is the Sky one any better? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
mine went live 20th still using o2 router will wait a few more days till speed settles down
sky router will go on ebay0 -
You won't lose anything by trying.
But isn't it like buying something at a price you were happy with 3 months ago, then seeing it has now reduced in price? Annoying but no rights to get a refund.0 -

We have problems with wifi in one room, old cottage thick walls, so I changed routers knowing I can send for the free booster incase it's needed and helps. Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0
