Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

I'm happy with them, except for the withdrawal of line rental saver.(Will it be reinstated, as it was a year ago, when people objected?) Everything was done when promised and tech were very helpful the other day, when I had a broadband problem.0

......So my advice to any O2 customers considering a switch is beware, they suggest some great offers but they appear from my experience to be false and to be quite honest fraudulent.......
They certainly have excellent sales people.
But in my experience the crunch comes (after they have made an unbelievable offer to get you to sign up now rather than migrate) when you ask them to confirm it in writing.
Somehow they cannot do that???0 -
I'm experiencing the same feeling of concern. I was yesterday offered a very good deal to migrate from 02 in return for a 12m Sky contract. I was then told to 'ignore' the letter or email that 'the system' will now send me, as that will only show the standard price and not the 'very special offer'. However I was assured that once I created a Sky account and logged in, all the correct info would be shown there, including the price.
I've now done that, and indeed the account gives me all the info I could possibly want-except how much I will be paying! Does anyone know when this info is added, as I'm reluctant to go past the transfer date (4/2/14) without something in writing to confirm what I accepted? If I wait for the first billing notification, I will already be locked in for 12m.
As I'm not taking Sky TV I'm half-expecting to be billed a surcharge of £2.50, although on the phone I made it clear that the price I was quoted would be the total price payable-not 'before surcharges'.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

I've been an O2 broadband customer for several years and have enjoyed their service, I was therefore a little dismayed when I was informed that they were being taken up by Sky and was considering going to another provider such as Plusnet.
However I fell for the sales call “ Join Sky and we’ll give you free broadband and Sky TV for a year” they also added that if I paid approx. another £20 then I could have the full package including Movies and Sports.
I asked the pleasant sounding sales guy if I could take the deal but come back to them and upgrade to the full package if I decided to get it, “yes of course you can no problem” was the reply
So I booked an engineer just before xmas and all was well, before the engineer came I called up to ask if I could take them up on their offer of the full Sky package – I was shocked that the answer was a straight “No that offer isn’t available” I asked them to check the notes from the original call but was informed that they were on a different system. Given that it was clear that Sky weren’t being quite so honest somewhere along the line I asked for my install to be rescheduled until we could sort out the issue with the TV so this was changed to the 10th Jan.
I pushed the promised deal and after several more calls I was told someone would look into it.
The next day I received a pleasant call from a lady advising that they would in fact honour the deal and that everything was back on track.
So on the 10th Jan I stayed at home and waited all day, to no avail though as no Sky engineer arrived, I called up again and was told in a very matter of fact tone “Oh it seems that the system has cancelled your order, the last operative wouldn’t have known this”
Ok can you start it up again please I asked – I was surprised to be told I would have to start an application again and that the offer was not available to me.
No amount of reasoning that
a. I was a new customer surely you’d want to treat me better than this?
b. You have promised this and I’ve already been around the loop.
c. I didn’t cancel hence why do I have to start again
Didn’t make any difference, it was a case of tough, it’s happened,, you’ll have to wait and see what we can do, we can’t give you an install date.
So a week later now on the 18th and still no resolution, no deal, no install date and absolutely no customer service.
To make things worse I was told that I was now “in contract” for my internet and no matter that they had sold it as a package the T & C’s made this effectively two packages and I am stuck with the internet.
So my advice to any O2 customers considering a switch is beware, they suggest some great offers but they appear from my experience to be false and to be quite honest fraudulent.
Anyone else thinking of joining Sky, take a look at their total disregard for the customer, they are clearly too comfortable within their monopoly and again from my experience I would look elsewhere.
This is pretty much the thing that is most annoying when you are practically being forced to switch to sky. I was very happy with O2 and only had to call them a couple of times with broadband problems, however it was a few months ago so could have been to do with switching over or something!?
It is always recommended to take a name, date and time of when offers are given to you however I admit to forgetting to do this sometimes. After all you expect everything to go smoothly don't you?
If you have been mis-sold you can always get out of a contract.
I don't see how this has resulted in a faster connection for anyone unless your local area has also been upgraded.0 -
Well, I've just had an "online chat" with them and guess what..... the guy said that there's no trace of the offer on my account!!!! I'll have to call their dedicated line to sort that out, but if it's not solved I cancelled everything without hesitation...0

That's not exactly filling me with confidence. How long ago did you have the original conversation? Mine was only yesterday, so I thought it might take a couple of days to appear on the system. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
My original deal was made on the phone on the 10th January. I'll let you know once I called them0

I've just had a bill from Sky and they have added on cost for not having a tv and phone line with them. It makes it a stupid price. Also I signed up for another 12 mths with O2 on 31/3/13 and it was free so surely I should not be charged anything until 31/3/14. Has anyone else had this happen and queried why they are billing before the 12 months are up?0

It looks like you have been migrated.
Once that happens you are then on the sky deal you "agreed" following receipt of their migration letter.
(Agreement is by paying the bill following receipt of the letter - though how you do that when you were on a free o2 deal leaves room for an argument)
Once you migrate to sky the previous o2 deal ends, and you lose the remainder of the free year.0
