PS- Is it not against Data Protection for O2 to pass mobile numbers over to sky.

I called them back and there was an automated message explaining how to take my number off their list.

That just leaves the unsolicited mail to sort out.

I was just about to email Sky Data Protection about this (as well as complaining about their aggressive marketing of "early switch" offers from O2) Just today I have a reminder postcard and a text message. As far as I'm aware O2 Mobile phones are not part of the transfer, so there's no reason for O2 to have disclosed the number to Sky - that's a data protection issue. For Sky, they may be in breach of the Privacy & Electronic Comms Regs for unsolicited marketing to a mobile.

    YES
I was/am in the same position, I have until Nov to run in contract.
O2 will let you go for free.
I rang Thursday and got my MAC code sent by email about 3 hours later, I been told to wait 7 days before using the code.

Be warned they do give you the hard sell about sky, and they will offer you 12 month's free O2 b/b you still have to pay O2 tel line.
I queried the O2 bit and was told O2 can still keep you on there network for at least 18month till it all switches to Sky.

The 7 days thing is if it all swaps over within 7 days very slim chance of that I used my mac code as soon as I got it.

Had a call from $ky marketing

Hello sir how are you today

    me Fine

Good, I understand you have o2 Broadband.

    me No I don't have o2 broadband!

Well sir I am offering you as a O2 broadband customer free $ky tv and broadband if you sign up to $ky and take out our line rental

me I don't have o2 broadband, my internet provider is BE.

    He then hung up!

I have blocked the caller off my phone, and I am not happy with BE at giving my mobile number to these sharks!!

Very few people have my O2 mobile number.

Around 9.00 pm this evening I had parts of a strimmer on the kitchen table, at the same time looking on ebay for strimmer spares.

Nephew calls on landline re strimmer, neighbour rings doorbell to say they're away for a few days.

Mobile rings, didn't check number as I was expecting a call from my boss.

"Hello can I speak to Mr xxxx, I'm calling from Sky, do you have anything you want to ask about the forthcoming changes to your service".

I'm afraid I may have been a teensy weensy bit sharp with him. :D
    Move along, nothing to see.

I have broadband with O2. I had 6 months free, which has expired so I phoned today to get a MAC and was told I will be sent MAC code via email. No termination fees for the remaining 6 months. So waiting for the MAC code.

I am thinking of Joining Primus since my line rental is with them or PlusNet...

I just my final bill and been charged Early Termination fee. Originally when I phoned I was told there won't be any early Termination fee, so not very happy. I have emailed O2 and see what they have to say..
