Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

Hoping for some advice, Today I have spoken with O2 regarding my contract which is due to expire Nov13.
I have been told I can leave without charge provided I give 7 days notice, pretty good I think.
Now for advice, I don't really want to go to Sky so Plusnet looks favorite.
On the plusnet web-site they show I should get an estimated 4mb download speed,
currently using O2 I get 6mb-6.5mb, do you think I should still be able to obtain this speed or will it go down as Plusnet expect?0 -
They use the wiring 02 use now, can't see it being slower0

Phoned O2(Sky) yesterday to get my MAC key and was given the expected hard sell ....
Have your pinches of salt at the ready ....
1. Apparently, you don't have to move over to Sky if you don't want to. You can stay on O2 .... they'll only move you over if you agree to it.
2. I have a F&F discount .. I asked about that stating that the official line is that the discount would apply for now, but can't be guaranteed. The O2(Sky) bod told me I'd keep my discount for as long as I stayed with them.
3. I also asked about the reduction of the O2 mailbox size to 20Mb ... I was told this was incorrect, and it's actually being set at 20Gb.
Basically, I was just told a load of bull in order to try to keep me as a customer .... I ordered a MAC instead !0 -

Got straight on the phone to O2 and went ballistic.
The only number SKY should have from O2 is my land line number that my Broadband runs on . I still have mobile with O2 but will now cancel when my credit runs out ( Sim only ).
Still trying to work out if this is a breach of data protection in which case I will take it further .
Is this the mobile number you use for your O2 discount?0 -
HELP. I moved away from o2 some weeks ago, went to plusnet, but I'm still getting texts from sky + letter asking me to move over quickly ! Sounds wierd but can sky switch me to sky from PN. Should I contact Sky or just ignore it ?0

You can have Sky BB on a BT line. It's called Sky Connect and it is absolutely dire! I wouldn't bother myself.0

I understood that part of the SKY deal is that you have to take their landline as well.
The sky offer of free sky tv and bb for a year is only available if you also switch landline to them.0
