Look pretty good Just over 16 Mbps. Is the router in your master socket? 6.3db noise margin is about the optimum.

After reading all these examples and other threads, it seems to me that SKY are making it extremely difficult for people to move away from their service and the threat of losing the number that you have had for years is a big factor.

This is from the Citizens Advice Bureau website:-

    Landline numbers

All landline phone companies must allow you to keep your phone number when you switch provider.
If you have agreed to move your old number to a new phone company, the number must be moved to the new phone company within one working day once:
    • you have received all the key information, such as the cost of changing companies and your cancellation rights
    • any physical line installation has been completed
    • your old telephone company has given the new company your number.
The old phone company will have to compensate you if they delay or there is any fault in the process of moving your number that wasn’t caused by you.
    Moving house

If you move house, you can only keep your number if you are moving within the same exchange area. If you are not moving far and want to keep the same number, ask your phone company to let you keep it. However, they don't have to say yes. If they do let you keep the number, they can charge you for it, as long as it's a reasonable amount.

Is this via the 'O2 Guru' bit?

I have broadband with O2. I had 6 months free, which has expired so I phoned today to get a MAC and was told I will be sent MAC code via email. No termination fees for the remaining 6 months. So waiting for the MAC code.

I am thinking of Joining Primus since my line rental is with them or PlusNet...

Yeah, Just one socket in the flat, using the face plate socket not the test socket so everything normal. The router stats shows an increase of speed today, its gone up.

Connection Speed Download:19002 kbps Upload:1197 kbps

So far Sky is good for me. Im also expecting an increase even though this is quite high for telephone connection. Had around 22mbps on O2 router stats. But not going to complain unless this goes down.

I rang today and got the MAC code by email an hour later. Have to wait 7 days before I can use it - as advised (to be safe).
Email states that I will be liable for any charges if I am still in contract so will have to wait and see.
Going to EE and they will buy me out of the contract anyway up to £100

The 7 day thing is if you are connected within 7 days chances of that are slim to 0.
I used mine on the day i got it from 02 and took 13 days for my plusnet appointment/install.

I asked O2 what Happens if I use the mac code before 7 days, they said nothing since there are no termination charges

Hope no one has a go at me.... But I was told 3 times on 3 calls that you have to provide at least a 7 days notice before you move. It doesnt matter when you use your MAC code (within 30 days) as long as O2 is notified 7 days before your termination date to avoid charges and therefore 7 days before your activation date for your new provider. This way they can make sure your account is able to be closed down and taken over at the exchange by Sky.

    Hope this helps...:)

Thinking of leaving O2/sky but before I do anyone help me with a few questions.
What's the worse can happen if I stay with sky ?,I have no intension of having the t.v package.
Anyone have experience of plusnet ? I know it's b.t but at least it's uk call centres.
We don't have cable in our area so all this superfast bb means nothing to me.
