What reasons might there be that I would want to move back to BT for my phone line? Are you (or anyone reading this post) already with sky for their line rental? Apart from lisa701's experience of sky customer service, has anyone else had one that was more positive.
Unless o2's prices had hiked, I would never have switched as I am happy with their service so I am trying to establish if this is going to be right for me or not.
I said BT as an example any other isp (plusnet EE Talk Talk etc)
If you have bad service over the year dropouts, speed issues, also wifi router not producing a good range as it is locked down and you are unable to use your own router. What will you be paying after 12 months as sky knows the hassle customers have to move to another provider as mentioned in my earlier post.
I am with BE for my broadband and Post Office for line rental. If I continue on to skys broadband without changing line rental I will be able to move away at a later date without all the hassle of loosing connection phone number as I wont be fully bundled on their system.
Although the offer is tempting I don't want to fall into the "sky trap":eek:0 -

Likewise i don't want the Sky Trap .
Sky BB and not Sky line rental willing to try .
Judged by the recent BE user survey i would not be surprised if Sky offer BE users the option to continue without Sky line rental .

I switched to O2 some years ago FROM Sky after their 'accidental' error disconnected my BB one day. To reconnect it would take 10 days and they 'couldn't reconnect to the old package as it no longer existed' so I would have to take a more expensive one, or take their phone rental package too. O2 provided what I needed cheaper and I was up and running in 2 days.
I will NOT be going back to Sky. I even got rid of all the Sky TV last year when I realised it was costing £600 a year, instead settling for Freesat+ HD. You get used to it and don't really miss the extra channels that you never really watched anyway. After all, we only used to have 3 channels when I was growing up.
I'm 6 months into my contract and going to ring for my MAC code due to an offer made by EE with a buyout as well. Question is will my termination fee be at the discounted rate I currently pay each month or will they calculate at the max monthly line rental and BB costs?0 -

Also be aware if you want to migrate back to BT etc after your 12 months you will probably loose your number, have around 3 weeks without phone / broadband and £130 reconnection fee!
This is new to me, Is there any information on this post somewhere, I have had my current landline number for over 30 years, and I would hate to sign up with sky and say in 1 or 2 years if I move back to BT I can't keep my number.0 -

I looked at the BT website and it stated that I would only need to pay the fee is I wasn't taking out a calls package with them. I figured that if I was moving back to them, I would be taking a calls package out with them so I am not too worried about that.
Also, although I know now I only get free weekend calls and not evening, I figured that actually I use my mobile more than my land line so that wouldn't make much difference for me.
I also checked on the sky website and that stated that I could keep my land line number when I move over to them.On target for mortgage freedom September 20230 -

I think this is incorrect and that you can always retain your landline number when changing providers.
No
This is incorrect.
No one guarantees you will keep your number (even if you stay with the same provider)
But especially when you leave (or join) Sky/Talk talk etc they don't guarantee it.0
