Might I suggest that you remove your request for thanks? I think that it will actively stop anyone from actually thanking you for anything.

Ahh, Thanks for the feedback. Noobie on this! (But you can thank me if you want..................joke:)!)

Just a quick update on being with Sky for 2 days. So far so good. Download Speed has increased to 10 mbps from around 3mbps. Also upload speed has increased to 0.90mbps from around 0.60mbps. Hopefully it will keep going up to my old 19mbps from O2. Sky Talk and Tv working fine aswell!:)

My speeds are now crawling along on some days and I'm about to make my first complaint to whoever's on the other end of the O2 phone today. My downloading speeds are becoming shocking. Files that would normally zip down are snail pace slow.

I'll happily report back on what I'm told if anyone is interested.

Ta, but I was already on at them.

But...must admit they were fine and I'm now back to my 'normal speed' of a few weeks ago - which was a slight step down on previous (I did note a slowdown on download speeds) but far snappier than 12 hours ago.

My friends that have Virgin and Orange bb, have awesome download speeds though on the same/similar tariff to me - but they're on a different exchange (mine still has hamsters in the wheels instead of greyhounds!).

Oh well, at least its nothing to do with Sky. :)

Could you post your router stats, may be able to suggest a way of improving your speed?

Need download speed, line attenuation and noise margin.

I'm really interested to hear everyone's opinions about their experience with Sky.
I, like many others have been sent the 'offers' to change over to Sky early so I'm just weighing up if it is the best decision for me.

I have checked the connection speeds for my area and it is saying it would be 1.9-4.9 Mbps which means little to me as I'm not sure what speed I have at the moment with O2. I really only use the internet for browsing websites. I don't download anything really, so someone on here might not mind answering the dumb question; 'Will that be quick enough?'
I could also have 'free' sky tv too which might be a novelty as I don't at the moment, and of course the calls on a weekend etc also.

At £14.50 a month it seems reasonable. Is there anything obvious that I am overlooking?

Your connection speed should not change when you switch ISP's.
Look at Expresso's post #762, and post your router stats, so we can see waht you are getting atm.

You could do a rouch speed test by visiting.

    www.speedtest.net

You'll get a result similar to

My router stats look like this.
    Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9213 kbps 1109 kbps
Line Attenuation 44.5 dB 26.1 dB
Noise Margin 6.4 dB 6.6 dB
