So before sky takeover o2 won't say you havnt topped up in last 3 months therefore we will charge you this month

I think the 'official' takeover is in April but customers won't see any change for quite a while after.
You could always check with O2 if you're worried at all

My contract actually ended in 2010, so I'm free to leave whenever I want. I get the Pro package on F&F with a free static IP address.

I contacted them, and was told that the F&F deal would go when the move to Sky took place, and instead they offered me the "All Rounder" package half price for 12 months for £8.75 a month. I don't get my line rental from O2 and don't have an O2 mobile either.

Needless to say I declined !!

All I pay is the line rental on my o2 home phone of £16.25 a month.

Does that include an Anytime calls package? if not then that is seriously expensive. (I'm with BE and I'm currently paying £13.99 for LL rental AND Anytime calls. Plus broadband of course - that's extra).

I don't like Rupert Murdoch but I'm a pragmatist so have just renewed my o2 legacy contract with 12 months free. All I pay is the line rental on my o2 home phone of £16.25 a month.

    Hi,

I've just reached the end of this long thread and still unsure about the 12 month free offer: Is this only for people with an O2 line rental? I'm on a BT line, out of contract with a Home premium legacy deal and PAYG mobile discount, for £13 per month. Would I also get the offer? Sorry if I'm a bit confused.... :o

You would get 12 months free broadband but would be required to pay ( not sure if legal ) for any months remaining if you cancel early .

On Pay and Go you will not get a credit to your phone account .

I've just seen on the O2 forum thread (well, one of...) that some people are even told they could leave the 12 months free contract without any penalty, just 7 days notice!

Yes, it does include calls anytime. I pay for mobile calls and some 08 calls but everything else is free including overseas calls to loads of places.

ETA: Worth mentioning that I'm on one of o2's old truly unlimited packages. I have two football mad blokes living in my house who constantly stream stuff so I can only imagine how much we must download in a month.

I didn't ask but assume from reading this thread that the free 12 months broadband only applies if you also have o2 as your home phone provider.

Of course, I could be wrong but if they gave you your broadband for nothing they would be making no money out of you at all.
