Cheers for the reply! My e-mail confirmation only mentions the fact that my contract is now another year, no mention of the free BB for a year. Hmph. Sure it's nothing to worry about..

Same here! Offered me 12 months free BB without having to do anything apart from ask for a MAC code.

However, when I go to "My o2 Broadband" page, it's still showing as normal price. Has it changed for other people? i.e - is it now showing £0.00 as monthly charge?

Give 'em time, then go to my o2 Broadband/My Home Broadband package

It shows "monthly charge including offers £0.00".

I received email and text confirmation almost immediately, certainly within an hour.

Like others, I also got the retentions guys details.

Checked O2 BB/My Home Broadband, it shows my next bill as £5.58 for part month, (bill due 18th), then monthly charge including offers £0.00, and contract end date 02/03/2014
    Move along, nothing to see.

Yes... going to home broadband.. moving home/leaving then leaving...

I said I am leaving because of Sky take over. was told same it will take 12-18months I am still in contract.

I says I have been happy o2 customer for no. of years and had a great support and service. I asked for MAC and then was given script about pay the Early Termination Fees, was put on hold and then was told my MAC will be emailed to me. Will be sent a Jiffy bag for router.....

    I thanked them :)

I have two questions on the O2 to Sky sale that O2 didnt clarify when I called them on Saturday. They suggested the deal will complete by end of April 2013 and its likely my service would be transferred to Sky shortly afterwards. As my BB contract doesnt expire until July Im a little concerned I will have a few months paying for a pretty rubbish service until my contract expires.

Do I have any grounds to cancel my contract if I find that after the transfer to Sky my BB speed reduces? I'd planned to transfer to Sky last year but found my neighbours are lucky to get 2 meg, so I stuck with O2 as I get 4 meg.

Also, Sky offer fibre in my area. If I'm going to transfer to Sky I'd like to go on their fibre service. O2 suggested to me that I could transfer directly to the Sky fibre service but I'm not convinced by what she said. Anyone here know?

    Thanks

If you are still in your contract period when Sky takeover your O2 supply, then a change in contract on their part gives you the right to leave. However, I suspect that you won't actually get the Sky service before the end of April.
If you take the 12 months free though I don't know if there will be penalties to change your plan within that time even if you stay with Sky?

You'd be in the same boat if speeds were to drop with o2! (Not a lot you can do, as they don't "guarantee" them.)

No doubt sky will be in touch to make us all sorts of upgrade offers (and landline deals too!)

All I can say is my contract expires in May and phoned up today saying I wasn't happy with the decision to sell to Sky & got 12 months free bb & £100 credit.

From what I understand the takeover will be ratified in April but the transfer of O2's customers to Sky will take over the next 12-18 months to complete

As for you transfer to Sky's Fibre I think the person you spoke to is correct. Once your current O2 contract expires you're totally free to do what you want whether your details are with Sky at that time or not, I suspect the latter. People in here will know more than I do and clarify things better.
