Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

Yes, I was assured twice that my service would continue exactly the same as now.
Sky are allowing up to 18 mths for the takeover to complete.
I was told that when my 12mths are up, if Sky are not in full control then I can either leave in the normal way, or continue as an 'O2' customer until the Sky takeover has completed.
NB, I believe that I read that there is a time limit on this free deal, so get phoning.
O2 retentions guy was helpful, very sympathetic (this deal is not available to them!) and seemed well briefed.
Contrast the way O2 are handling this with the way Orange handled the withdrawal of their free BB from their phone customers.
FYI, I'm on paygo and only renewed my BB back in December.
Call 08003800402, go through to 'thinking of leaving'
Thanks for that, think I'll give it a go..0 -
Were you assured that the free 12 months was going to be fulfilled by O2 or you going to wake up in a few months time & find yourself on Sky??
Thanks in advance..
I was told that it could take until the end of the year to swap everyone over as to upload 500,000 customers would overload their systems.
When you say 'fulfilled' by O2 do you mean the service or terms and conditions? You probably will become a Sky customer I would think?
But still be bound by the contract you have with O2 if that makes sense?0 -

Yeah that was what I meant. I don't mind becoming a Sky customer if I'm bound by O2 contract especially if I can get this 12 months free
Line to retentions dept is unsurprisingly busy..will try again later or first thing tomorrow morning0 -

Yeah I just phoned them and was on hold for 20 minutes but was worth it as they gave me the 12 months free.0 -
ooh, free bb for a year and £100 credit on the mobile.
Have bagged the year's FREE Broadband and mobby cr of £100.
The contract remains intact for 12m and my choice to stay or go after then!
Is there a way of seeing the £100 mobile cr in play when it gets added? I can see the free BB in play already.
Are they doing this to keep a pool of customers? (NOT COMPLAINING)0 -
Woo hoo! Result. Year's free BB plus £100 credit on contract mobile bill. I thought I'd better join the queue (which was about 20 mins) in case they withdraw the offer. It is a shame to see O2 pull out of the market though.Nice to save.0

Same here! Offered me 12 months free BB without having to do anything apart from ask for a MAC code.
However, when I go to "My o2 Broadband" page, it's still showing as normal price. Has it changed for other people? i.e - is it now showing £0.00 as monthly charge?0 -
Successfully got 12 months free broadband & managed to get £100 credit on my mobile bill too so thanks to all you guys in here!0

Got an email confirmation but also took down the guy's name who I spoke to & reference number regarding call in case of any aggro that may happen.0
