Just tried again and after a little push as offered the 12 months free deal which equates to £10.50 a month as I still have line rental with them, but the broadband itself is free.

He said that they are offering it as standard to anyone who calls up to complain. No mention of the £50 or £100 credit or ahy M & S Voucher. I am on PAYE with them though so that might explain it as it seems from other posts that PAYEers are ineligible for this part of the promotion.

So if you get fobbed off first time like me definitiely make sure you try again....

Hopefully you are on PAYG with O2 and not being taxed by them under PAYE. ;)

However glad you finally got the offer.

Phoned retentions earlier, after reading various forums, resulted in being given 12mths free BB.
I've been promised exactly the same service/t&cs until the end of the 12mths.
    If
Sky have fully taken over by then, I'm free to leave or go with Sky.

Renewed back in December for12mths @ 6.25/mth for the All Rounder.
I'm on PAYG discount, so didn't try for a credit.
    Move along, nothing to see.

I keep reading about people being told Sky will honour all discounts etc

Wonder if that stretches to F&F deals?

Which mobiles get the free credit - I know it's not PAYG, but does it have to be a 12 month+ contract, or can it be the one month contracts?

Like many on here I'm with O2 bb purely because of the 'mobile 50%' discount. Slightly sceptical when I read that the handover process is going to 18 months. Think I've already decided to jump ship in a couple of months.. Had hoped that O2 would introduce a fibre service but I'm now looking to join Plusnet.

I phoned O2/Telefonica Broadband first thing on Saturday as soon as I had heard about the sellout in order to ask for a MAC code. They offered me £100 off my mobile bill and a year's free BB. I asked what the T+Cs of the offer were and they said, "the same as your existing contract". I pointed out that that couldn't be right. My existing contract requires me to pay an amount each month and give a month's notice if I want to leave. If the monthly fee is zero then what would the penalty be for leaving before the end of the 12 months? They said it would be the fee for the remaining months at the former rate but that makes no sense. The penalty (or actually damages in law) could only be such as to put them in the position in which they would have been if I hadn't breached the contract by leaving early. Their loss would be zero. Would they refuse to give me a MAC code if I left before the end of the 12 months? Would there be a contract at all? A contract requires 'consideration', the legal term for what I give them (money, peppercorns etc) in return for them giving me a service.

I asked if the offer was spelled out in writing anywhere but they said not - it had only just been invented.

I am hard put to think what the 'consideration' might be. Is it that I agree to remain a customer for 12 months so that Telefonica can comply with its agreement with Sky to deliver a certain number of
    customers by a particular date?

I said I'd think about it and hung up. After doing so I felt bad for even entertaining the bribe but then I wondered who was paying. If it was Skydoch then I'd be taking money off him, which seemed not such a bad idea if I left as soon as the 12 months was up. My ideal scenario would be that so many would leave O2 and BE that the deal collapsed, but then we'd be back with a Telefonica too skint to finance fibre.

I used to be with Dircon and had free dial-up in combination with a Videotron phone but moved to Pipex because Dircon couldn't get ADSL together. Then Pipex was taken over by the bankrupt Worldcom and became useless so I moved to O2 and BE who were the pioneers of ADSL2+ but now they can't get their fibre act together. Aaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Im in the same boat as you all, however I used to work for bt installing adsl and broadband along with faults. O2 is very good, sky used to be poor but has advanced a lot.

Every company these days has some kind of underhand practise going, what we all need to look at is cost and service. I wouldnt go for bts fibre yet until they roll out full fibre to the house as you are loosing speed.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
