Sky buying out the O2 Broadband business to boost their headline figure of saying they have "x million" customers.

Hopefully it won't be a repeat of the mess-ups when Talk Talk merged the systems of the companies they took over together.

Why do folk think that Sky will require you to have a Sky phone line to have their BB?
They don't require it of their existing customers, just offer it as an option!

I think they do. The last time I spoke to their customer service to enquire about fiber, I was told I need to take up sky phone as well.

If that's the case then that is good news. Do you know how much they charge for BB only? Perhaps I'm just naturally suspicious, but I can't help wondering if they might deliberately price it fairly high in order to try an coerce customers into switching their line rental to Sky for a better deal.

You cannot newly subscribe to Sky LLU broadband without taking Sky Talk and line rental.

Indeed, but what about existing customers? And would an O2/BE customer be considered an existing customer?

Well said nogginthe nog and I totally agree with you. I was reading the write up in the Telegraph about it (not that im a reader, i work for an airline and a customer left one on the seat).

Murdoch is expecting to overtake Virgin in the broadband market and is expecting to nab 500.000 of the 02 customers. I really dont think that that will happen. I for one will definately not be having anything to do with sky as I cant stand them. Their customer service is shocking and I dont want to give that man any of my money, it goes against my morals.

Lets hope that there are lots more customers who think like us, I have my mobile, broadband and landline with 02 and im gutted this is happening. Their customer service in my opinion is fantastic and ive always been extremely happy with them. My contract is up with 02 in early july and I will be switching to Virgin!
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it murdoch!!!!

If you think that Sky CS is shocking, then isn't it a bit perverse to propose switching your business to VM?

Sky BB does (or at least did) not require you to have Sky Talk.
I had Sky BB over a BT phone line for ages.
I eventually chose to move to Sky Talk too, which was cheaper and had better inclusions that BT's.
You do (or at least did) have to have Sky TV though.
The above may have changed, of course.

Yes, of course they would, because Sky have bought the O2 contracts.

    In .

I hadn't realised that this offer was being made to those still in minimum term.
Can I ask how many months you still had to run (I'm in contract until July for broadband, out of contract on the phone)?
