  • ISP Review is one source of how these ISP`s are performing and you get a feel for their customer service and product reliability. Also the Broadband Resource is a useful site to see who`es owned by who and what services are available. It seems 'you get what you pay for' is the continuing maxim,in other words there aint no FREE Lunches!
  • Can anybody suggest a ISP that offers a student/9 month contract?

I've ended my contract with Virgin Media and had to pay £49 cancellation fee as a result. If i return to them, I am guaranteed my money back. However, returning to them leaves me with the same dillema next year when I graduate.

I know Telewest and BT used to do student accounts in 2004, but cannot find any offers now.

    Thanks!

    Hi there

My folks are only in the Uk until the end of the year and also may be moving before they leave the country. Their phone line is with BT - It would be great if anyone has any suggestions for the best, money saving way to get them on the Internet without it costing them a fortune. They don't need a huge download capaciity - It's really just for email, SKYPE and the odd bit of surfing

    Cheers

We have ended up with a Sky package. We were with Virgin and foolishly signed up despite having read and heard how poor their service was and of the premium rate help and customer services lines.

Well, 4 months in and we ended up having to take them to court - we've just won and been refunded the call costs plus money they overhcarged us. In total our calls to them topped £127 - easy to do at 50p a minute for support.

They were fairly cheap which is why we went with them, but never again will we go near them and we regret very much havnig to do so.

I've just been looking at Plusnet, their £9.99\month for basic broadband is just what I want. Before I sign up I need to ask then a couple of questions about charges when moving house. There appears to be no way of emailing them to ask the question. All the help and support is as FAQ. Anybody help with a contact email?
  • Am looking to move away from tiscali as my broadband provider (recent downtime and poor offshored customer service). The Gold £10.99 per month service from supanet looks good but maybe I'm missing something (I usually hang around the credit card and current account boards).

Is the £10.99 all I pay (it includes free calls anytime) or is there a line rental charge to pay on top? (and would it be to BT as now or to supanet?).

I think I understand broadband pricing but now there are combined talk and broadband packages I'm not sure I'm comparing like with like. I currently pay £10.50pm line rental to BT and £12.99pm to Tiscali for 1MB unlimited.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    - at least there is a £ number quoted. If you look at the profile for Chris and click on the plusnet comms team there is an e-mail address - failing that join the forum and post your specific questions there.

    All the best

You would still have to pay your line rental to BT,as the Supanet call packages are delivered by carrier pre select.
