  • Thanks for that. What I want to do is avoid paying the BT Line Rental charge which is why I like the look of Bulldog. I have to say that there is a lot of negative talk about Bulldogs customer service though.
I might try contacting Madasafish to see if they can do any better...

If you are migrating then supanet will do £10 a month. I used them and they were quite good, service not bad either. They arn't very good if you want to leave them though. Wouldn't give me the correct MAC so had to wait 4 weeks. However worth a comparison

you may want to avoid Bulldog now, seeing that tiscali now own them (subject to shareholder approval)
  • Hi everyone, I am new to the forums though have received the emails for a long time and found them very helpful. Iim sure there will be lots of sound advice for me here.

I am moving to a new property in the country; it has no phone line at the moment. I am using TalkTalk's phone and broadband package in my current property. BT will install a new line at the cottage but my problem is that I am then tied to keep line rental with them for 12 months, meaning that I cannot migrate my TalkTalk package, which requires you to take line rental to then take advantage of free (or in my case, £10 pm) broadband.

Please can anyone offer suggestions as to the cheapest route for me to take until such time as I can switch over to TalkTalk in the new property; I am on a very tight budget. I have read Martin's articles on cheapest broadband and cheapest telephone provider but in these circumstances I feel that first hand experience will be most beneficial and simpler.

All advice welcome and most gratefully received. Many thanks.

    Nic
  • Hi Nic

Ask BT what the cost will be to cancel your 12 month contract - you may find it is cheaper to do that and transfer back to Talk-Talk.

  • Thanks Mike, I will check that out.

Hi all here scrounging some advise:D :D

at the minute id like to change my call and broadband package. i also need digital and so i thought of going for sky package. After searching i found that talk talk looks good so i may sign up to talk talk total 3 which includes braodband and phone unlimited international and 100 min to mobiles per month for 14.99 pluss line rental of 10.50.

This seems good to me since i am paying £50 per month to Bt and £16 to Eclispse for broanband. I could also get the sky package for £15 i cant get cable or Ntl or anything as ai live in N Ireland

All info great and all savings even better :T

    Thanks money savers :A

Unless you are operating on a tight budget I wouldn't recommend taking a bundle deal. Talk Talk, Sky and the ilk are amongst the worst broadband in the country. What you may save in terms of monthly fees could be swallowed up by calls to helpdesks. If you are a casual net user and are not interested in downloading or doing anything speed/bandwidth intensive then I suppose its worth a go but otherwise you maybe onto a loser. I have a reliable service with Vivaciti at £19.99/month with my BT line rental on top.

Have a read here on what other users think..

I'm currently helping a friend with her connection to TalkTalk and I have to say it has been a nightmare trying to get their service to work in any way reliably. As a bit of a techie, all I can say it that it might be the cheapest ISP but I would not recommend anyone using them for real.
You will be stuck in an 18 month contract with a £70 get out fee.
Note that phone calls are only free for the first hour (or is it 70 mins) too (depending on your plan), something that is not mentioned when you sign up to them.
    Please avoid them.

    Hey folks,

I've been with BT broadband for sometime and am paying over the odds for bb connection so am looking for a new ISP.

I was thinking of going with sky, as I already have sky tv, and wondered if anyone on here has had any dealings with them????

Thanx in advance for any help given!

PS/ post should read 'Confused by the options' LOL
