Hope everyone is safe & warm. I haven't left the house all day. Mind you I am meant to be completing my disertation - although not doing too well.

My Mum announced last night she is going to knit - do babies wear hand knitted stuff these days? Oh well, will leave her to it. I just look at the pics of me as a baby wearing a hand knitted cardi (or even worse hat) & have a sinking feeling :rotfl:.

My parents are still beyond excited - it could be a long 7 months.

I have an on/off metallic taste. Also have to eat little & often.

OH said yesterday (we were discussing the gardening) that he's going to have do more over the next few months - at least he realises that he doesn't do his fair share now!

I can't seem to help looking at various baby related stuff online - is anyone else doing this? I don't know whether it's cos I want to look or just another techniques to delay the disertation.

Re knitting, my mum knitted loads of things for us and they were really cute. The key is to find some patterns you like (hooded jackets/cardigans were our favourite and great for autumn or winter babies as an extra layer) and some cool wool (you can get some great wool that knits into different colours - not cheap but def cheaper than buying something ready made). So get in with ideas early :-)

My mum is knitting, but I think knitted cardigans and things are adorably cute so I don't mind.
And yes, I can't stop researching buggies and checking out all the baby events online.

Very scared about scan tomorrow. Really don't know how I'll cope if something bad has happened. I just want to get it over with now.
  • good luck for your scan tomorrow tiny x

hope you are feeling more positive abis

AFM only 2 more sleeps until my scan on Wed, fingers crossed
  • I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow, I'll only be 5+3. However, going to arrange an early scan for next week, as I don't think things are looking good :(

Sorry to put a depressing post, but I'm quite sad and just need to tell someone.

I didn't actually know I was pregnant and although we'd been planning another, we hadn't actually planned it for this month, so it was a real shock. Then the realisation sunk in that I was going to have 3 kids under 4 and the cost etc etc. However, after the initial shock, I've been really excited. I've miscarried before between no. 1 & 2, but I'm not a worrier and with my last I wasn't bothered at all, as I just knew everything was fine.

This one started funny, I had af on 15/2/13 which was normal, but then started spotting on 28/2/13, this went on for 2 weeks before I did a test which was positive. I wasn't sure if it was a positive test as the hormone was in my body but I was miscarrying. However, the gp reassured me everything was fine. The bleeding stopped and I started getting excited. Then on Wednesday I had a bit more blood & was really upset, but remained calm. Thursday, I had quite a bit more so phoned the midwife, they said it's just the embryo settling in but I could arrange an early scan when I get to 6 weeks if I was still worried. I've been bleeding all weekend, not much, but clotty (sorry for tmi!). I kind of feel my appointment tomorrow is a waste of time as need to confirm if I still have a baby or not. The midwife confirmed there's nothing I can do, what will be will be. Just wish I could stop stressing about it. I think I know deep down, if this doesn't work out, we probably won't try again.

Sorry again. I don't need a response, feel better for just typing it out!

Hope everyone else is keeping well, sorry, I don't really keep up. xxx

Counting so sorry things haven't been going great for you recently.

With my first pregnancy I bleed quite heavily a couple of times with clots and things were ok. Bleeding does sometimes happen for no reason not that this helps at any stage.

I hope that things are ok for you, if you can get an appointment at 6 weeks do just to check things out but also remember that at 6 weeks you may not see a heartbeat so may worry more rather than less.

  • Thanks Kitten Pie. It's reassuring to hear that other people have had bleeding/clots and things have been ok. I'm going to have to book a scan, there is no way I can wait another 6 or 7 weeks! Hadn't thought about not hearing a heart beat though. A friend had said she went for a scan at 5 weeks and they couldn't see anything, but she went back a week later and everything was fine. So thought if I could hold on for another few days.

I'll be able to chat to the midwife tomorrow which will be good, but I don't want to complete my forms and have bloods taken when I'm not convinced everything is going as it should.

    Thanks x

Sorry it's been a bit of a rollercoaster, really hope the appointment goes OK tomorrow and gives you some reassurance. I would hope they'd do a hcG to test your numbers which should give a decent idea of how things are - and they usually have the result back quickly from that - so it's definitely worth going.

I understand about the different emotions - I had an unplanned pregnancy last year and went into shock as the timing was pretty bad, then started to feel better and excited, then I had a miscarriage and was devastated. Not that this will be what's happening to you, just empathise with you and all the emotions you're going through.

    Will be thinking of you.
  • hope everything turns out ok counting x

Hope everyone is doing well. I need to log on more often!

Mrs R is very tired at the moment, not surprising really, now at about 7 weeks. She's doing well with her blood glucose levels but has had the occasional high reading for a couple of hours and panicked. The majority of the time it's been good though so she really shouldn't worry too much as it doesn't help her remain positive!

I've said a few jokey things the past couple of weeks (as we've always had an odd joke between us over the years) but have been quickly snapped at so have had to tread carefully! Hard for me to see what she's going through as I know she's struggling with fatigue and being extremely busy at work (nurse) then also struggling to control her diabetes.

Hopefully we'll have some good news come the 12 week scan but that's ages away, 1st May! We've now booked in to see the midwife at 10 weeks as that's separate from her diabetes antenatal appointments so I'll try and go with her to that one.

On top of that our flat is now on the market and we've started viewings so it's all go. Trying to not get too stressed with it all but that's difficult!

Edit: Sorry to hearing that Counting :(. Hope the check and scan is good news x

Counting down the days - I'm so sorry you've had such a stressful time. I was bleeding a few weeks ago (around 5-6wks) and was terrified but luckily all has been ok since (touch wood). I agree with Betty and Kitten pie - opt for any early tests/scans you can - it's horrible constantly worrying. Big hugs. Xxx
