Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! Part 3

Hi all,
Time for me to graduate - went for my first scan yesterday - eventually got measured at 12 weeks exactly - even though bean was doing it's best not to have a picture taken!
Even got told to empty my bladder halfway through to see if that helps - it didn't! Bean was jumping around all over the place & didn't want to lay down (hope it's not a sign of things to come!)
Couldn't get the measurement for DS test - so (after a big arguement with DH) i am now booked in to have blood test instead at 14 weeks
EDD is now 3rd Oct instead of 2nd!
Good luck to you all - sending sticky vibes x

I am 9+4 and my existing flab is being pushed out already - our cleaner (who I don't usually see as she comes when I'm at work) saw me on Monday and asked if I had anything to announce . I just laughed it off and didn't really answer. We have a get together with friends next weekend and I am positive people will be wondering then, but I'm determined to hold off until we've got a nice clear 12 week scan.0 -
I feel like I'm showing already but keep thinking the baby's only 5cm so must be flab!
It kind of feels like something is pushing the flab out though, definitely more than just a fat tum.
Thankfully I can tell people now so no need to keep it a secret.0 -
it's not just the size of the baby, it's all the cushioning around the baby that's taking up room - water, placenta and womb lining I guess0
-
I think at 12 weeks the uterus is a lot larger than in a non pregnant woman, so I dare say it would definitely push what's already there out. I've definitely noticed a difference this week.
I can't believe with ds1 I was able to fasten my jeans until about 4 months, no chance of that now! They do say with each pregnancy your stomach muscles weaken so you show quicker. with ds2 mine completely split so its no wonder I look so bloated!
I second what pigpen said about active babies. Ds1 was quite a wriggler but is really easy going and loves sleep, ds2 hardly moved, and in the nicest possible way, is the antichrist.0 -
I knew my body was lulling me into a false sense of security. Before this morning I hadn't been sick in a week and a half. This morning I've mainly been sitting on the floor in my downstairs toilet. I wouldn't mind as much if I had food in my stomach to bring up, but the nausea hit as I was making breakfast.
Counting down the days to my scan now. Part nervous, part excited.
10+2Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Ah that makes me feel better that its not all flab then -as i've had to increase my insulin dose to protect the baby from high blood sugars, this is notoriuos for causing weight gain.
Had some good news yesterday, after the doctor on Thursday saying I couldn't drive due to my erratic blood sugars, work have now agreed to let me work from home for the rest of my pregnancy. They've redeployed me temporarily to a less demanding role (but on same money) so it'll be boring but easy which is fine by me at the moment, I've lost all interest in my career until I come back off maternity leave. With any luck if we ever get some good weather I may even be able to work in the garden sometimes!
I'm quite relieved I won't have to go anywhere in the mornings for a while now, and not deal with the stress of my usual job, so I'm quite pleased. Hopefully I can still manage a sneaky afternoon nap most days as well.0 -
That's good news Angi - and should also save time/ money on commute costs etc.
No nausea/ headaches this week.
Meant to be going out for a meal tonight but with a foot of snow outside I'm not confident that will happen. Tesco also meant to be delivering this afternoon - we could be hungry tonight!
Missed a Friday night glass/ bottle of wine last night. Had an alcohol free beer - didn't quite hit the spot!
Scan date confirmed for 17 April when I will be 12 + 2.
Might have to tell a couple of friends next week as we are away with them overnight & I have already had a night out with them when I had a 'migraine' so was driving. This time we are in a hotel so will be difficult to hide - harder than on a week's holiday!
Whilst they are really good friends, I can't help but feel a bit guilty as there are a couple of other friends I would rather tell first (but won't see them before next weekend). I think I just need to get over this & not worry!
TBH I want to just keep this a secret forever from all but our closest friends & def don't want any big facebook style announcements. I think this is just in case things don't work out (not that I've got any past history to indicate this) as I wouldn't want 'everyone' to know.
Hope everyone is safe & warm - being pg is a great excuse not to have to do any snow clearing!
