Woo hoo too old, great news!

AFM I had my scan, the NHS scan was very very basic compared to the private one, basically they just checked to see that there was a baby of appropriate size with heartbeat and dated the pregnancy, whereas the other scan checked everything - brain, blood flow, organs, loads of things I can't spell, so I felt I'd got my money's worth. Its really reassuring that all looks well at this point.

I don't know why they bothered making me see the obstetrician today, I think at this stage if all is well then there's not a lot they can do, they tend to only get involved where there's a problem anyway at this stage.

I can't really have asked for a better first trimester (for the baby, not me, the diabetes is a struggle) and feel confident enough to graduate from this board now.

Its been great posting with you all, and I hope to see you all on the next board very soon.

I will still lurk on here though and post now and then.

Good luck to all those with scans, and hugs to all those in need.

Glad everything's working out for you Angi.

Had my blood tests today (I'm 9 weeks today) and my scan is in 3 weeks time. Seems to be really dragging now - 12 weeks seems so far off! Counting down the days, can't bear the thought that there could be something wrong (or it could all be fine) but I have to wait so long to find out either way!

Is anyone else feeling MS worse in the evenings? I am dead by about 8pm - poor OH hardly sees me when he gets in from work then I'm in bed by 9! But when I wake up I feel fine so long as I have a big breakfast.
    Odd!

    Hi Ladies

Big hugs to those who have had bad news and those who are worried :(

Au revoir Angi - hopefully see you soon on the next board :T

Toothfairy - Yay for scan two weeks today; mine too :D

Sorry to hear your news NCSmummy.
Hugs to Sweatybetty and everyone else who needs them.

Good luck to all having scans and appointments coming up. I'm on a countdown to Monday now. Have given in and ordered a doppler off Amazon which I am sure I will drive myself mad with.

I have also bought a doppler (angelsounds) :o won't get it until Saturday as it was delivered whilst we were at work so need to pick it up from the PO. Can't wait to try it; I know its very early so won't panic if I can't find the hb for a while, I am prepared to be patient :D

AFM poor OH is having to do all the cooking and I am avoiding all things garlic atm (think I am having a vampire not a baby with this garlic aversion!). 10 + 2 today and just waiting impatiently for my scan!

Hope everyone is as well as can be expected. xx

  • Hello ladies,
Went to see the booking in midwife today and have come away feeling really upset/ disappointed. I didn't feel that she listened to me at all or answered any of my questions. I know that my medical history is a little complicated but more than once she flat out told me she didn't know and wouldn't give me any pointers where to find out or who would know. She kept saying 'lets just see if this pregnancy actually progresses first' which made me feel really really awful :( lots of the details she has written in my notes aren't correct and she's dated me at 9 weeks even though I know I'm definitely 10 from LMP - I don't know how to change those details?
I know that she just does the booking in and isn't my actual community midwife but she's made me feel so rubbish about it all :(

She might be one of your community team.. we have 4 on ours. if you are 9+6 they put 9 weeks, they only count the full weeks.

She will also have done a consultant referral so the hospital will send you an appt to see the consiltant at somewhere between 12-16 weeks.

The date they put down is irrelevant as they go on the scan dates anyway. The due date on my booking forms was 1st Octoer the scan date is a month earlier.. they just change it.

  • Thanks pigpen, I'm exactly 10 weeks today and she has written 9+0 and due date accordingly. It just felt awful and she gave the impression (and pretty much said) she couldn't be bothered speaking to me because I'd probably just miscarry anyway :(

Just forget it.. a lot of them are vile and their attitude sucks, they never listen and try to make you feel stupid.. backfired on the one I had for my last booking she had no idea about anything and had a student in (my cousins wife!) so I was explaining stuff to them both.. you are within your rights to refuse to see any of them but the rate they shift them about you might never see her again.

Lemonmelon - I've had the same thing before and it totally distressed me unnecessarily. I think sometimes they forget that these are real babies that we love already. I had 3 negative midwives so i spoke to PALS at my hospital and asked them to remind the midwives that it is distressing to hear such things. Big hugs hun, percentages are on our side! Xx

    Hi all,

Dont get much chance to pop in as basically my laptop is rubbish and I have no patience with it :o I need a new one!

So sorry to hear all the rubbish news - there is nothing I can say that will help, except for <big hugs>.

Sickness and tiredness showing no sign of stopping, at least DS distracts me!

    Hope everyone else is ok.

    Hi all,

Sorry I don't get the chance to post often, I do try to keep up with everyone's news regularly though. Sending hugs to those that need them x

I received my booking in appointment this week (8th April) and scan date (19th April). Seems all the more real now. I'm now 7+6.

These first weeks are dragging by! Can't wait to be able to tell people and not be watching what I say all the time!

Generally been feeling ok, no real sickness or anything.. was constipated (sorry tmi) so been eating a few prunes everyday which has definitely helped! Not as tired as I was, but still not really been in the 'mood' so to speak.. OH asked if everything was ok with us today, as apparently I haven't kissed him for 2 days.. Need to think about things like that more.. my mind is just so preoccupied with everything baby and pregnancy!

    Take care x
