I'm not carrying on with the Birth list anymore. I think in the first trimester it's not a good Idea for the people that lose their babies to see their names taken off the list. That probably hurts them more
As someone who has left here twice I don't think it makes a difference, the birth list has always been here & it helps know how many weeks others are when they are talking about symptoms, scans etc. As there is such a difference for someone 5weeks & someone 10weeks.:j - DS - 7

Hey all,
Am new to this thread as I only found out on Sunday that I'm expecting ... so I think that makes me 4+2 just now? Still getting my head around all your jargon and TLAs (three-letter-acronyms)...
I wanted to get some opinions from you guys about cats and being pregnant.
We decided to start trying at the beginning of this year and after reading all the literature we expected to be trying for a while but as I was feeling so broody I convinced my hubby to get me a lovely rescue cat for valentine's day, so that's how the beautiful Django came to live with us.
Problem is that now I'm reading lots of scare stories about toxoplasmosis and cat poo being ultra-bad, and because my hubby is ultra ultra cautious he is saying maybe we should never have got Django and maybe he should go back.
I can't let this happenhe is the perfect cat and he loves us!! Does anyone have experience of being pregnant with cats in the house? Were you warned about the risks? Did you take the immunity blood test? Help me convince hubby that our little house-lion can stay!!

NicChanna - I have a cat and a kitten and no way are the leaving our family!! I just think its an excellent excuse to not have to clean out the litter tray or indeed remove any offending articles from there either
:p To be fair, you can get it from gardening if a cat poops in the garden n stuff. And I've never heard of anyone being effected either - I think its quite rare.
I agree with MSM. I've been off these boards twice now too without graduating and not seeing my name on a list didn't make me any more depressed than I already was before - its the losing the baby bit that totally sucks. Its a scary time this 8ww business, and as we have seen these last few days, lots can go wrong:( I think having a list of where everyone is is kind of helpful, and then people can choose themselves whether to go on the list or not.
Think I've decided not to do the repeat bloods til monday. Thats when the doctor wanted me to do it anyway, but i was going to go tomorrow and get the results before the weekend. I can't cope with the receptionist not giving me the results again. I found it more stressful doing all that than doing nothing. No bleeding or anything yet, so I guess I just have to keep the faith as much as possible.Married my lobster in July 2011

Hey all. Just popping in from the other thread to stick my nose in
We have a cat and there is no way he's going anywhere! There's no reason to get rid of your cat, NicChanna, you just need to avoid handling cat poo. So litter tray duty is hubby's responsibility for the next 9 months. I have a 2 year old and when I was pregnant with him we had 2 cats - he was in no way affected by there being a cat around when I was pregnant (though the cat is somewhat traumatised by the presence of a lively toddler in the house these days :rotfl:)
Sorry to see there has been bad news for some over the last few days. Big hugs lilymay and ncsmummy. And hugs to anyone else having a worrying time at the moment. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
NicChanna I just want to echo what the others have said, no reason to get rid of the cat just be careful, try not to do their litter tray out (make it OH's job!) and if you have to then wear rubber gloves and wash your hands thoroughly. I have started washing my hands a lot more after handling our cats.0

Been for scan tonight (8+2). All is as it should be. Measures 16mm.
On his initial measurement FS said 7 weeks - but this isn't possible as we know time of ov. He measured again & got 8 weeks. A lot depends on the angle when you are measuring something the size of your thumb nail!
He has asked for my first NHS scan to be 3 weeks today so hope that comes through soon.
Welcome NicChanna.0 -

The other thing that people did for a while on the main pregnancy thread was to put the number of weeks at the end of their post, e.g.
"Has anyone experienced blah blah?
36+2".

I had my cat (Penis) throughout my pregnancy and unfortunately he still lives with us now. On the plus side, my 8 month old loves him so I guess he's here to stay.
I didn't bother with any tests or whatnot. Just make sure you never touch the cat's poo. Does he have a litter tray? If so, don't change it yourself. If not, no need to worry! The cat himself won't pose any problems."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
OK, if you want to keep the list someone else can do itWhat's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0
