I have my christmas party tomorrow night, its miles away too so getting a minibus there and back which means I have to stay out until 2ish!!! :o

I hate driving places I don't know though.

God knows how I am going to get through the night without people noticing I am not drinking, planning on moving around a lot so always with different people and having glasses of orange juice I can pretend I have vodka in....

wangdoodle - pregnancy certainly is such a variable thing, not only from woman to woman but from one pregnancy to the next. I'm finding it much easier this time round, the symptoms are much less severe than the first (with the exception of the bleeding which is worse).

claire - hope you are feeling better now, I had bad sickness until about 16 weeks with DS, it was not fun!

Disney_Pluto I get cramping quite often, it's hard to know if it should be a worry or not, but I just put it down to stretching pain and things changing inside me pain. If you're worried it's always best to check with a midwife though.

Robots what your husband says makes sense. It's hard to know what's normal and what's a worry -even if you've had a baby before!

LJ sounds like you're having a really traumatic time, I'm glad your DH and sister are looking after you, big hugs.

Welcome lizzie_b I used the pregnology website to work out my dates (even when I was TTC) http://www.pregnology.com/due-date.php

Lara good luck for your scan on Monday, hope everything goes well for you!

purcy I think it's only natural to be knicker twitching, especially if you've suffered a loss before. I'm still doing it even though I know the bleeding I'm experiencing is nothing to worry about because I've had 2 scans that confirm the bleeding's not connected to the baby, but I still feel the need to check all the time.

lilmissmup good luck with hiding the not drinking tomorrow. I used to drink mixers and pretend they had vodka in when I was expecting DS, although I didn't go to my Xmas Party that year as I had horrendous morning sickness and the thought of food made me ill. It's my Xmas Party next week, but I've decided to drive as I'm known to like a drink after last year's party so it will be suspicious if I'm not drinking!

Hope all is well with you firey and samtoby!

I'm 10+2 today, the last few days I've been feeling massive, it feels like my boobs are swelling up, and my bump seems to have grown (I never lost it completely from having DS but it's definitely getting bigger again). The sonographer said you put weight on quickly with your 2nd, I was showing by 12 weeks with DS so I shouldn't be surprised I'm showing already. I think people at work are starting to notice, but are too polite to say anything. They're used to me having a bit of a bump, but it's starting to really stick out.
I'm just hoping it's not too obvious until after my scan on NYE, then I can tell everyone in the New Year. We're allowed to dress smart casual at work, jeans are allowed but jogging bottoms etc aren't, so once I've told everyone I intend to wear leggings with boots and smart baggy tops for the rest of my pregnancy.
I know it's probably far too early, but is anybody else counting the weeks until they can start maternity leave? I'm intending to take maternity from 36 weeks, so it's 26 weeks and counting for me!
  • Happy weekend everyone.
LJ9982, If you're still reading on here I hope you're taking things easy and are being looked after well. x
Robots, that was a good rant and certainly sums up how I feel about it too.
    Lizzie, congratulations and welcome.
Lara, good luck for your scan on Monday.
Purcy, I hope you're feeling a little better today.
Firey, all the best for your scan. It's such a worry isn't it.
Lilmissmup, enjoy the party, I don't know about you but I don't think I would notice whether or not someone was drinking, so I wouldn't worry too much.
Aquamarine, do you not enjoy your job or are you just feeling the tiredness makes it difficult? I think the fact that I'm not working as such means I'm not getting as noticeably tired. My job used to be very exhausting and I was always on the go and dashing about.
As for me, I was going to do more Christmas shopping today but the weather is shocking so I am going to catch up on my housework and I've just made some yummy leek and potato soup. :-) I did manage to feel ever so slightly queasy yesterday afternoon so I hope it's a good sign.
    Love to all. X

Thanks Firey! I hope it's all good and we stay due date buddies :) The scan is supposed to be 2:30 plus a booking appointment straight afterwards. I was expecting a letter to confirm but nothing came so a little worried. But we will turn up on Monday in person and then they'll have to sort us out somehow.

It will be nice to go to the antenatal scanning place this time. All our visits so far have been to emergency gynae, which is just next door.

Purcy hugs to you, I'll still on knicker watch at 12+3! I am so, so hoping that things go super smoothly for you. I was also quite proud of myself the first time I puked, haha :) Mad, isn't it.

Aqua I hope your bump stays concealed until the new year :) 26 weeks sounds long but I reckon it will fly by.

The internship I had arranged for January to March just got cancelled yesterday :( So I'm going to be a big unemployed pg lady. Not sure quite what to do next...

Claretsgirl your soup sounds yummy! I'm cosying up today too - planning the Xmas shopping.

  • claretsgirl your soup sounds lovely! I sometimes make a nice celery and potato soup but I've not made it for ages. I don't know when I'm going to finish my Xmas shopping - might do it online. I do enjoy my job most of the time, I just find it very tiring working full-time, commuting up to 2 hours each way depending on traffic/trains and then dealing with a very active toddler in the mornings and after work. OH is often away with work so we can go several days without seeing him, so it's exhausting at the best of times but moreso now I'm pregnant too. Especially when like this weekend OH is working so I've worked all week, and I won't get any rest because I'm looking after DS by myself, then I'll be back to work on Monday absolutely shattered. I'll be going back to work after I've had the baby as I earn more than OH plus I felt like I was losing my identity before I went back to work after DS, but I am looking forward to a year off, without having to commute and rush about! And of course to spending lots of time with DS and the baby.
I sound like I'm moaning, but I don't mean to, I like working and I love being a mummy, I just wish I didn't feel so exhausted all the time!

Lara44 I'm sure 26 weeks will fly by, the first 10 have gone really fast. Time does go really quick at work as it's such a busy place, the months fly by there. And, I'll have a few weeks holiday to take before maternity, I'm planning on spreading it out a bit over the months though so I can work shorter weeks, rather than saving it until just before my maternity leave to let me leave earlier, as I can always bring my maternity leave forward if I think I won't last until 36 weeks.
Have you had the first part of your booking in yet or is it the first one on the day of your scan?
Sorry to hear your internship has been cancelled. Is there any chance you could just temp for a while until baby comes in your field or is that not really a possiblity? Do you need to be doing a specific role as part of your PHD?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I've overdone it pushing a heavy shopping trolley round the supermarket this morning, so am a bit achey now. Tomorrow I'm taking DS to see Santa and I get to have afternoon tea. I'm going with my sister and her 2 children so it will be lovely! DS is a fussy eater and probably won't eat his afternoon tea....all the more for me then! (and I wonder why my bump is getting big!)

  • Hi everyone
I'm keen to join too as I got a BFP last week.
I make it 4+4 for me so very early days
I had a mc in April at 7+6
I'm in Northern Ireland so things work very differnt by the sounds of things.
I rang my doc & told her I was pregnant. She said no need for her to see me as she would only do a urine test.
My next appointment will be my scan (hopefully) - I was told before that I would get a early scan with my next pregnancy but my doctor has now back tracked on that

Hugs to the girls who had bad news recently, thinking of you all x
