  • Morning all.
Aquamarine, you must be tired juggling what you do. I think it's the commute I would find most draining. My work used to involve a lot of travelling and I really don't miss it.
Welcome and congratulations creditcrunch and plantpot. x
Welshgirl, sorry but I have no idea about that but it does sound similar to what happened to wangdoodle.
Pommeverte, I'm glad things are settling down for you. I'm a week behind and thought I might be starting with a little bump yesterday but I think it was just because I ate a few too many mince pies! :-)
    Love to all. X

Doctors do seem to be a bunch of fibbers when it comes to extra scans and things like that don't they. DH and I agreed after the last mc that if we made it to a reasonable number of weeks we would go for a private scan anyway. I just don't think I can make it to 12 weeks without some reassurance. I'm thinking of going between 7 & 8weeks but has anyone else been for one and would it be worth waiting an extra week or so?

Wait til week 9. You might get a wiggle of a leg then like we did! The difference between 7 & 9 is quite significant.

Well ladies, survived the party, did get asked by pretty much everyone why I wasn't drinking though so apparently people do notice!!!!

They were all doing shots etc too....

    Oh well!!!

I am planning on speaking to doctors in 2 weeks to arrange to see midwife at 8 weeks, don't want to book it just yet just incase.

I had a period with my last pregnancy that resulted in miscarriage but this time not even a blob of anything brown! No implantation bleeding or anything.

Are any ladies on here unhappy with their local hospital? I have had to move doctors and I live between two hospitals and I want to give birth at the one that my doctors don't cover. Will have to ask how it works when I go to midwife....

  • It really baffles me how differently the nhs operates through out the uk

I'm in NI & I was offered the choice of 3 hospitals, I picked the one closet to me & it also happens to have been refurnished a few tears ago & friends have said the scans there are much clearer than one of the other hospitals

I have priced private scans. Looking like £99 but it's a small price to pay.
If I get my hospital scan letter could I ring them & ask to go earlier? Or am I wasting my time?
  • congratulations and welcome to credit_crunch, plantpot and welshgirl.

Purcy I've had scans at 7+1 and 8+5 this pregnancy, and there was a noticable difference in the bean's development in just over a week. I had a scan at 9+2 with DS and that was much clearer than my scan at 8+5 this time. The little beans seem to grow and change so fast at this stage. But if it's the heartbeat you want to see, it was clear at all 3 stages. At 7+1 it was just like a little kidney bean, and 8+5 it was a little kidney bean with limb buds and was apparently having a little wiggle, at 9+2 the limb buds were much clearer. If you can wait there is much more to see, but I suppose the earlier you go the sooner you'll feel reassured.

lilmissmup, in my area you can choose your hospital, even if it's out of area. I was asked at my booking in appointment which one I was planning on using.

Had a lovely afternoon with my sister and friends taking the kiddies to see Father Christmas. Nausea isn't too bad at the moment but my appetite is descreasing (in my case that's a good thing). The tiredness has come back with a vengance and my boobs feel really sore. I was telling my sister I am worried about showing already, and she said 'you don't look pregnant you just look like you' that's her polite way of telling me I look fat. She usually uses the word fat - sisterly love!
Can't believe it will be time to move up to the next thread in a couple of weeks, it's all going so fast!

    Hope everyone is feeling well!

    Aqua 10+4 xx

I will ask the midwife then when I go to my booking in appointment, i think it means I will have to go to the hospital for all my appointments if I go to the other hospital.

Lil miss I can choose between two hospitals, I'd see the same midwife at my gps either way, they just have a different set of notes to give out!

I second going at nine. Baby had arm and leg buds and was moving around where as in my previous preganncy I had a reassurance scan at 8 weeks and it was amazing but just a bean so one week made a real difference and then the difference between 9 and 12 was absolutly amazing.

  • Good luck with your scan today Lara
  • Anyone else constantly check their knickers? Sorry if TMI but after having a mc I am constantly checking!
It's driving me mad! I must be going to the loo 10 times a day then 10 more just to check for staining! Why am I'd doing it to myself?

Also any tips on trying to fool colleagues? There are only 5 of us & the all know of my history so I know they won't ask me outright but it's our Xmas dinner on Friday. I think I might just tell them to save them asking?
