Yes, it's my first. As far as i know you don't normally have a consultant unless your high risk or had problem previously. Oh we'll, only 90 mins to go til appointment, so I'll find out soon enough. Suppose I'd best gt up now and get organised!0

How many weeks do you need to be to see a heartbeat at scan? I'm allowed an early scan, but don't want to go too early & see nothing and upset myself. I'm 5+1 today, so was thinking next week so 6+1 - 6+5? Or should I wait until the week after? Just really busy that week with Easter & work!:j - DS - 7

I went at 5 + 5 & there was no heartbeat. Scanned again at
6 + 4 & there was a heartbeat.
From what I read, it should be visible from 6 weeks - but probably better to leave it to the end of next week to be sure.
8 weeks today & first midwife appointment. No nausea or headache yesterday/ today. :j0 -

I've had a consultant with every single one of mine and didn't have any real issues until the kidneys started being naughty and the cons doesnt deal with that so got a different referral.
You are usually referred to one here regardless and they are supposed to just review the notes, but they never do unless they are brought to theur attention for a reason.
With my first I saw cons at 12, 28, 37, 38, 39 and 40 weeks... all a fantastic waste of everyones time and parking feesLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
ooh.. scans.. I had one at 6+2 with Squeak and all they could see was the sace.. no sign of anything in it.. it was New Years Eve, very icy out and the gynae ward was full of little old ladies with broken hips and legs etc (orthopaedic wards were all full of the little old broken men) so they said they couldn't fit me in for ERPC and to come back in a week.. A week later they rescanned and there she was wiggling away!
Had it not been for all those broken old people she would have been unknowingly aborted

No sign of pregnancy other than a thick uterine lining, although at 15mm it's not really thick enough for dates.
Having yet more bloods, results dependent another scan on Friday.

Hi all
Just catching up with everyone's news. *hugs* to everyone who has had stress and fingers crossed for people who need it.
Had midwife appointment last week, bloods and she examined my belly, she seemed to think I was either further on than I think, or do I have twins in the family? I'm pretty sure I'm not any further on than I think, so we will have to wait and see until the scan next week. We did hear a heartbeat though, so that was reassuring. Can't wait for the scan next week!
Amazingly only one friend has guessed so far, although my belly looks (to me) huge! I feel like all of a sudden I've just gone "pop".
I'm debating buying a doppler but I don't know if it would just freak me out if I couldn't find the heartbeat.0 -

They say they work best from 15 weeks when the baby is big enough to pretty much always hear, but if you know you'll worry yourself I'd leave it as a treat for your midwife appointments
*hugs* to everyone who needs them and great huge sticky beans for everyoneWhat's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0
