- we cross posted before. Re 'choosing' a consultant... With all these regional differences in just appointment procedures it helps explain why people get widely different care across the country!
They asked me a few questions (and DH) to make sure I wasn't suicidal before letting me have 3 months worth, which is a normal precaution with anti-depressants btw.0 -
good luck with your scan sunshine!0

Having been obsessed with olives last week, now the mere thought of them makes me feel sick. Poor husband is finding the shopping tricky!0

Good luck sunshine! (It's almost time!)
It's crazy how much the care differs in the uk, surely it should be a bit more standardised. How do you know if your particular care is the best? I'm not complaining, my care in this and previous pregnancies have been fine, it just baffles me that it varies that much?!? I never had a mention of choosing a consultant, or even what to expect from them. I think I would have seen the consultant regardless of baby size as my bmi is 30. But it's the gigantic baby that makes me high risk!
I want to go and eat olives now :-)0 -
Sunshine, hope your scan went well! Can't believe mine is tomorrow!
Was feeling a little deflated this morning, after realising that my little bump seemed to have got smaller, that I wasn't feeling as sick and that I was still getting odd little bleeds. But after some googling and reading that bloat shrinking and bump regrowing at 12 weeks was normal, that sickness passing and remembering that years ago I was diagnosed with an ectropic cervix, which could be the cause of the bleeding, I feel a little more reassured.
Must mention it tomorrow at my scan as I think I forgot all about it when filling out the forms with the midwife!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -
Just lurking - (I seem to do it a lot) and I have had a look at my maternity notes and there are a lot of tick boxes which makes you considered high risk in this area. (I hate tick boxes)
It has BMI over 30 as high risk? My friend is not really that big at all she is only a size 12 but she jokes she must have heavy bones. She is 37 weeks now but I know she has had to see a Consultant, had blood tests for gestational diabetes and has to go to Hospital not the nearer birthing centre but I am sure that was to do with anti-depressants - she has continued taking them through pregnancy but they want to monitor the baby after its born.
At the end of the day you can be low risk the whole pregnancy and then say a week before your due your blood pressure can rise and boom your high risk here, can't go to the birthing centre and have to go to the Maternity hospital.
To a certain extent I think we all know when something is not quite right. I can not explain it but in the pregancy I lost before this one, something didn't feel right and I was correct. We all recognise when we are getting poorly generally and none of us want to put our babies at risk but we do want to feel our opinions are understood when discussing with professionals.
