Dustystar - I wouldn't do the antibiotics thing. Ive been out a few times, I haven't drunk the wine anyone has got me and Ive bought eg coke for myself saying it was vodka....Plus the non alcohol beer is good! (pour it in a glass if you are paranoid). As everyone else drinks - they don't notice what you are doing if you don't draw attention to yourself!!! Noone has mentioned me 'not' drinking!0

yes I think I'll do that sophiasmum, I've told one of my work colleagues cos we car share and I couldn't keep it to myself. she is going to cover for me at the xmas doo's, buy my drinks - when I ask for a gin and tonic she will return with lemonade haha.0

If so not sure how Im going to manage it, I'll burst!
The fuller the bladder the better the scan apparently. When I went for my scan I had a very full bladder and the midwife said that the ultrasound works much better through liquid. If you have an empty bladder it will make it harder.0 -

A full bladder pushes your uterus further towards the front of your body, hence the clearer scan. They're not scanning through the liquid in your bladder...:o14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Thank you all x
How much water would be enough? Would a pint an hour before my appointment be ok?0 -

Yes. Drink it slowly over the hour though. If you down a pint, it'll all get pushed through your system really quickly and you'll be desperate for the loo before you've even got to hospital! Ultrasound departments always tend to be running late too so you can end up waiting longer than your appointment.14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -

Thank you, I'll do that
Can just imagine them running late and me in the waiting room bursting to go.... and OH pretending he doesnt know me :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Cllola - I don't know to be honest. I've not done too much research on breast feeding so far and my only point of reference, my best friend, wasn't able to so she knows nothing!! I thought maybe at least 6 months then bottles after that? But my opinion could change as and when I hear others experiences about the best length of time to bf for?
Chelseablue - I think it's yet another thing that varies from area to area. When I went for mine I was full to bursting, and when I mentioned it at the desk they said 'you can just go to the loo, our technology is better these days and you don't need a full bladder at all' despite that I STILL held it, but when I went into the scan room they told me I could go straight to the loo before scanning. So it might be best for you to ring your antenatal unit and ask ahead of time so you know?
Sunshine81 - that would nark me off no end!!! I already got a bit defensive when my MIL said she had picked out a pram they wanted to buy for us! It was one of those carriage style ones, ridiculously expensive, and not at all practical. I literally said that to her, she looked a bit shocked but I think I was blunt enough to get the message across that they wouldn't be 'choosing' any more stuff on our behalf!!! Don't get me wrong I am extremely grateful, but especially as this is our first me and OH want to choose all the big stuff (and actually our Moses basket is a hand me down from my best friend anyway, like quite a lot of stuff, so we are quite lucky in that we just say oh no need to look at that, my best friend is lending us that, etc.
Dustystar02 - you should do whatever is best for you and your baby - don't let anyone push you into breast feeding or make you feel guilty if you can't. Each to their own and whilst I will be trying to breast feed if I can, I would never judge other people and I think my best friend is the best mum in the world and she didn't breastfeed, and her 7 month old daughter is the most gorgeous, brightest, on track development-wise little girl ever in my eyes!!
Oh and if I don't end up being able to breastfeed I will look on the bright side - more sleep, less sore breasts, my OH will be able to be more involved, AND I can have me a little drinkyOur first baby due 25th May 2014 :T

Chelsea you don't need to drink tons. My hospital specifically tells you not to come with a full bladder & when I had my scan I just by chance not because I'd been trying, had a fairly full bladder & almost had to empty it to get the baby to move more. I've had perfectly clear scans with an empty bladder too, like lily says try dept will often run late and the machines can get clear pictures without you bursting!0

These scanning machines must all differ! I got told off for not drinking enough (2 large glasses 30 mins prior) and ended up having a internal sca ! Be careful! Im I'm sticking to their guide lines next time.....0
