Higher BMI = more possible problems in their mind, but in reality, it doesn't make a difference.
My BMI is hovering between 45 and 47, depending on what time of day I weigh, but I'm short and have huge boobs and a very large rear! I have a good waist to hip ratio though! :rotfl:
I would LOVE to have a bust of a decent size (above an A to me)
If your BMI is high do they monitor you more? Surely your uterus is like other peoples - only think I can imagine is water retention. I had a big problem with that with DS and they kept testing for proteins in my urine (I think)3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

I don't know all of the details, but we get a GTT mandatory (yay blood drawn...*sarcasm*), and a few extra appointments. Towards the end they worry about the baby being too big to actually have, so they do more growth scans late in the pregnancy. I *think* we also have to see a consultant as well as the midwife due to higher bmi's.
The way I see it, my gp says that other than the depression, I'm healthier than most people with a BMI of 23, so I'm not too worried.
They're going to have loads of fun with me any time they need to draw blood, since my body temperature plummets, I break out in a cold sweat, get extremely nauseated, and nearly pass out any time they draw blood. My body temp is usually low anyway, but it's up due to the pregnancy, which in turn is making me feel colder. I don't think my feet have actually been warm for the past 4 weeks!
Also, you're welcome to some of my bust! I'm a 38/40 G, but I'm growing (and aching!)...0 -
Just dropping in to say good luck with tomorrows scan samtoby, will be thinking of you!
Also boobs... ouch.. popped in M&S to try out maternity bras.. am a 36H... well the H cup was waaay to small (the bit that was supposed to go in in the middle just didn't have room to!) So not sure what I'm going to do now
Does your body temperature change when you are pregnant then? I'm NEVER cold, always too warm, but the past couple of weeks I constantly feel chilly!

I had my DS early nearly 4 weeks and they were telling me my bump was small and that I was low in weight and they were concerned about the baby. I was given steriods for his lungs to mature.
No blinking need - 7lb 12 - longer that the average baby and was just fine. Yet the lady next to me was overdue and a bigger lady than me and her baby was 5lb something.
Never try to predict your body I often think it has some powers unbeknown to anything else. Obviously I am greatful for how concerned the midwives were and they were very shocked how he came out!
Will gladly take some bust off you. Would love to be able to push my boobs together and have something. Only time that happened was while breast feeding!
I am ok with blood taking, have low blood pressure which is pretty normal for me so I do hope all will be ok that end. Pain on the other hand!3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

I don't know about for everyone, but most people's body temp rises when they ovulate due to progesterone, and since progesterone production keeps going up during the first trimester, the temperature of your body can go up as well. I measure mine in F, but before ov, I was 97.4F, after ov I was 98.1F, and now I'm actually up to a 'normal' body temp of 98.6F.

Hi all - sorry not to have checked in earlier. Baby all fine, happy, bouncing around and being a bit difficult!
The doctor doing the scan is part of a research project at University College Hospital, and spent a while checking the placenta and so forth for problems that caused the bleeding, and a while longer checking hte blood flow in and out of the placenta and so forth. The whole scan took about 55 minutes, which I'm sure is longer than my 12 week scan with Isaac. The nuchal results came back as a 1 in 15,000 chance of Down's Syndrome, and a lower risk for the other genetic problems they check for.
She reckoned the bleeding's not sinister, that the baby was happy, healthy, right for dates, and generally perfectly OK.
Once OH and I got home, my Dad collected us in a cab and took us to the station, carrying all my bags, and we had a lovely out-of-doors harvesting stuff and bonfire night weekend, and I didn't so much as touch a computer....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Aww samtoby sorry you're feeling so nervous about tomorrow

Hi everyone, thankyou for the lovely welcomes. I'm sorry I posted and disappeared - we were away for the weekend and I had no 3G.

Thanks. And for the alternative name love! I was thinking how im tramsforming and the theme song sprung into my head! It is a shame, as I like my usual MSE account, and feel slightly like I'm dishonouring some good friends on here, but I'm really glad I did make an alias now. I ummed and ahh-ed for a while, and have also been lurking on the TTC thread (learning so much!) since the summer. So AQUAMARINE and POMMEVERT I'm so happy for you! :jsophiasmum wrote: »I think Im just looking fat! Aching this morning - and not helped myself by googling 'falling at 10 weeks pregnant'. The majority of the posts do say baby is well cushioned etc but theres always the one............
I'll add my own reassurance to the pool here... I play (well I did!) full contact very dangerous sport and the nurse said itd be fine even if I did fall due to padding. I gave up 2 months ago as I was tired of worrying though! Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0
