Emma I think the cm is throwing you off. There was a measurement like that on mine too that confused me, it might have been the uterus size rather than the babies size...? In any case, I'd go with 10 weeks for now and if the cm measurement is still confusing you ask your midwife /next sonographer at your 12 week scan. From the pic, it looks more 10 weeks than 16, to me.

    Good morning everyone!

Welcome to all the new pregnant ladies...is it just me or is there a bit of a boom on?

I told my employer about a week before my booking in appointment because I didn't want to have to take annual leave to have the morning off.

Is anyone else starting to show? I'm 10+1 and my tummy is definitely getting rounder, this is my second pregnancy and they say you show earlier. I thought I was 'showing' at 6 weeks but now realise I was just incredibly bloated because it went down over a few weeks.

    Have a happy Sunday everyone.

P.s. I've found the cure to my nausea too...sweet and salted popcorn, it's pretty much all I've eaten for 2 days!
  • Emma congratulations on your pregnancy successful scan. I had a scan at 9+2 with DS1 and the picture looked like a little kidney bean with little fingers and toes and a heartbeat, but no long limbs and the head and body weren't really well defined.
By my 12 week scan The head and body were more clearly defined, as were arms and legs, and even the face seemed to have a little nose.
I'm no good at making out scan pictures myself so I can't comment on what your scan picture looks like but I hope the above information helps you.

AFM, I need to do the packing now, decided to go to bed straight after X Factor last night. We're going away in the car though so there's no set time we need to leave, but morning would be preferable!

I think I might tell work a week before my booking in appointment too, as I've also run out of annual leave. Work will normally allow an hour at the beginning or end of the day if you want to go to the doctors, but I don't want to rush my appointment, and also I don't want to start dictating times I can and can't attend to the midwives!

I won't really know when I'm showing because I had complications in my pregnancy with DS1 which damaged all my stomach muscles, so they've set in a bump and I've looked about 5 or 6 months pregnant for the last 2 and half years (don't worry ladies, what happened to me is rare). On the plus side that means people aren't going to automatically guess I'm pregnant as they're used to seeing me with a big bump. I met up with some friends yesterday, one of whom is 18 weeks pregnant and unless you knew you wouldn't guess she was pregnant.

Pleased to hear you've found a cure for your nausea!

Ive not told my employer yet and debating whether to tell them before my next scan so that I can just go as I too have no holidays! Am wondering whether just to go home ill or come up with something else as I would prefer not to tell until that scan is successful and my parents and inlaws know.
I think Im just looking fat! Ive given up on my fitted clothes and am living in leggings and loose tops... when I was weighed Thurs I hadn't actually put on any weight so it must just be my shape changing :)
Aching this morning - and not helped myself by googling 'falling at 10 weeks pregnant'. The majority of the posts do say baby is well cushioned etc but theres always the one............

In my first pregnancy I had a fall on snow/ice at 17 weeks pregnant, landed flat on my back. I rang the doctors and they said as long as I didn't have any bleeding or unusual pains that everything would be fine so no need to come in. They also said the baby is well protected by water etc. so not to worry. They also said that the earlier on in pregnancy you fall the lesser the risk as there is more cushioning, whereas when you approach full term the baby is quite big, so if you fall then you run the risk the baby might pierce something and make your waters go. I know there's always a risk with a fall, but apparently it's quite common for pregnant women to fall over, so I hope you're not worrying too much.
Obviously, if you have any concerns or if something doesn't feel right go straight to the doctors.

Hope the aching gets easier soon.

DS1 is absolutely fine, so my fall didn't harm him in any way.
