Great news lemon!
I was wondering if anyone knows what the midwife is supposed to do about testing for rhesus negative? Just saw this in the news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-21752761 and got me wondering when they do any testing or if i need to ask my midwife about it when I see her for the first appointment next week?
Thanks0 -
Poppy when you get your bloods taken (mine were taken at my booking appointment, some have it before) they will check your blood type which will tell them if you are rhesus negative or positive.
If you are negative you will have some injections near the end of your pregnancy also if you have any spotting you will need to get an injection. Your midwife should talk you through it but as long as they are aware it isn't something to worry about.
Edit: Having read the story if you do find that you are negative (should be in your green notes once known) just keep an eye on it and insist where necessary. Once you know you can then fight for what is right.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

On the subject of booking appointments... what do they ask you? DH can't make mine, so what information will I need from him for the midwife?Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

Family history of heart attacks, stillbirths, depression, any childhood illnesses. As long as you have been together for a while they are quite easy questions to answer. I haven't taken OH to any of my bookings except the first as there really is no need. Prefer him to get time off for the scans.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Thanks Kitten Pie for the info and reassurance. My midwife is coming to my house for the booking appointment (apparently it's how they do it in my area, not sure why though maybe just to see your circumstances?) so do you think they'll take blood there and then??
Thanks clearing_out_my_pockets for asking that, I was just going to ask the same thing.0 -
They may do or they may give you forms to get them done at your surgery depends how they work.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500
