I tried to add myself to the list but did not fully succeed.

    Hope everyone is well?
I went to slimming world tonight and signed up for 12 week Countdown. Hoping to go a few more weeks before letting the leader know as such early days. I am not good at secrets and it is going to be tough not telling anyone! X

It is the worst I have had it. With my son 9 years ago it was quite bad but this is worse. I feel terrible all day long. I can barely brush my teeth at the moment which I know is disgusting but I can bare it. I can't take any tablets as I had a bad reaction after my ERPC so they won't let me have anything in that family. I am miss bland and wondering when it eases!

    Have you felt any moment.

    xx

That's annoying. Yes I took an anti sickness tablet before the erpc as they said the GA can make you feel ill if you're prone to motion sickness etc which I said I was, I was fine though.

But if it makes you feel any better the tablets don't help with the nausea at all, they just help stop vomiting & apparently another kind make you digest food in your stomach quicker so when you do throw up there's less there.

So even when I was taking them I still felt awful all day. Plus they make you drowsy so you can't drive.

So I just took them for the days when I had all that time off work and was being sick around 10 times a day and not keeping water or anything down. And sometimes I'd throw them up anyway! But I think they did prevent me going into hospital.

I don't think so, I'm desperate to feel something!
  • Thanks samtoby and claire16c that's really reassuring. My best friend who I told last week (literally cannot ever keep anything from her lol) said today about the scan tomorrow possibly being a vaginal one and I cringed - having endometriosis makes smear tests unbearable so I'm hoping you're right when you say it's not painful!!!!

God the fact that I could be 7 weeks pregnant already when I only found out 2 weeks ago is a little bit scary! In a good way of course!

I know a few of you mentioned free cycle - I've had a bit of a look and am not very impressed either to be honest! I did however look at eBay and I found if I searched for pick up items only within a 5 mile radius of my home, there are some really good bargains! But I am not buying anything yet - I don't want to jinx anything!

Speaking of which, I've been told you should wait until 12 weeks to start buying stuff, is everyone else going by that or have you already brought stuff? My other half is so excited and I don't know if I will be able to hold him back from buying stuff for much longer!

    Hi,
I think private midwives have been 'outlawed', as the goverment and insurance ccompanies have made them uninsurable. Our private mw has gone back to the NHS.

Aw no that's awful! Explains why I've been having so much trouble finding one! :(

marywooyeah- I understand you have a busy schedule but could you not arrange your appointments in lunch breaks or take holiday/ time you can pay back? I don't think there are any private midwives I am sure you have to see a NHS one. I know scans are optional but I am sure if you don't see a Midwife the Dr you see has a duty to say they know you are pregnant but you have not been to a Midwife. I wouldn't wish this on anyone but some pregnancies do not take the easiest route and some people end up seeing Midwives a lot more than normal. I love my job and all that I do, even though it is super stressful - but I WILL take time off when ever the baby means I need to. Despite coming back to over 200 e-mails and feeling like a rabbit caught in the headlights!! I hope you find

I'm sure youve not intended your comment in a nasty way but I've found it a bit offensive. Its great that you have the option of taking time off, but saying that you WILL take time off if the baby means you need to gives the impression that you think I don't care about the baby/that i wouldnt take time off if it was needed.. I find that very hurtful.

Its great that you get lunchbreaks, I work through usually at least four days out of five either through being at court, seeing clients or travelling to and from meetings. If there was some kind of emergency I wouldnt really have a choice but to leave work.

I can't tell my employers that I'm pregnant, my career would be over. Ive managed to hide it for nearly 5 weeks now and hopefully if I can carry on loosing weight I can hide it for another few months. My annual leave is reserved for half terms and I can only take it if there are not too many other employees off at the same time, but the midwife I've been allocated would obviously need to fit into that too and she doesn't seem to have great availability either.

As for your later comments, obviously things can go wrong but they're unavoidable; if there's something wrong with the baby its wrong, nothing I'd be able to do about it so dont really see how having a midwife would make a difference.

As I said I'm sure you didnt mean any upset, perhaps be a bit more sensitive in future?

Elsie congrats on the scan x

Marywoo if you can't get a private midwife you could be seen by a private obstetrician
I don't know where you live but this company offer it as well as midwife consultations
    http://www.thisismy.co.uk/pregnancy-screening-baby-scanning-pricelist/
It's at the bottom, £1500-£2000, don't know how much you wanted to spend

If you want to have your baby in a nhs hospital you'll have to meet with a midwife at least once to be 'booked in', so not sure how you're going to figure that one out, unless you tell work you have a client meeting? Or presumably wait until work know anyway.
Although obviously you could go private for the actual birth as well but I hear that can be incredibly expensive

Oh and if you're going to take any maternity leave your employer must be officially given notice by your fifteenth week before your due date, so around 25 weeks. By law you have to have two weeks off after giving birth but how much longer you have after that is up to you.

Marywooyeah- I didn't mean any offence and I am sorry if I upset you. I am sure there are a variety of private options and you will find one that suits you.

Maybe post a question on the main pregnancy thread maybe someone else will be doing private?
